Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho has said playing for Premier League leaders is like playing for a country.

Sakho, 24, has been overwhelmed by the atmosphere at Anfield since making a big-money move from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.
The France international told French radio station RMC: "The atmosphere is fantastic. I think it's really a reflection of the club.
"Liverpool isn't a small family of the players and the staff. It's really a very, very big family with all the supporters. For me, Liverpool is a country. It's a country of football because the support is really behind you and, when you know the history in this stadium, it’s really exceptional."
Sakho praised the atmosphere at Anfield towards the end of last weekend's potentially crucial 2-0 defeat to Chelsea, which handed Manchester City the initiative in the title race.
He said: "It was quite a difficult defeat [to take]. But now it's behind us and we have to concentrate on what we have to do until the end of the season.
"That means to take the six points, and then we’ll do our sums at the end."

I watched this interview with him yesterday on LFC tv. He did most of the interview in French but did this portion in English. He comes across as quite a bright and very likeable lad.

I like and rate him, but I would have expected more refinement given the price-tag and I can see why a team of PSG's ambitions felt fit to bench him.

That said his potential is huge and I think he will reach it with us.

Not sure of his overall stats but in a recent game he won all his aerial duels,(shit phrase) eight I think
I think the stats are flawed, in that he doesn't go for a lot of balls that he should do.

Perhaps.
I have always thought he was quite combative though if he only makes challenges that he is sure of winning perhaps, is that necessarily a bad thing?

It's probably a wise move on his part. But I'm convinced that Skrtel (or any other player who was decent in the air) would be winning more headers if they were somehow able to swap bodies with him.

When we signed The Beast, we didn't have the money or status to attract many galacticos and were always going to be looking at players of his type, not (yet) world-beaters but of high quality with the potential to get better still. He won't previously have faced anything like the competition with PSG that he's faced over here and, all things considered, I reckon he's made an excellent start.

He's got the 5th best passing accuracy in the league. Not bad for someone who apparantly cant control the ball...

He'll turn out boss for us. He didnt have a pre season and he's been injured 3-4 months mid season.
Will step up big time next year I reckon.

Oh yea? I think he'll go on to manage the club, and after winning his fifteen title after relegating united, he'll ascend out of the now 150,000 seater anfield while farting out an airborne, viral cure for cancer.
Lolz. Everyone knows you won't see a stadium bigger than 100,000 in England

True and apart from a 10 minute spell in the Man City game away I can't see what he has done wrong. Alot of his passes are well weighted forward passes too, not just square to Skirtel. He does have weird looking feet when he runs and maybe that's what puts people off. Great signing.
