if they played for us and Benitez signed them you'd soon be slaughtering them and slaughtering Benitez
ha ha so true. Imagine the collective foaming at the mouths had we signed those players.
you're just waving your hands in the air and saying we should be beating teams because we're Liverpool. I wish it were so easy and i'm sure Benitez does, he doesn't lose on purpose you know?
I know. Of course he doesn't. Rafa's a honest man. He's just not a good enough coach which is why he will be replaced.

We shouldn't be beating the likes of Reading or Portmouth because we're Liverpool. We should be beating them because we simply have better players than them. Top international players. Many of them. Players who you have just argued have been good signings. Which they are. It's just the directions/coaching coming from our tactician haven't been good enough.

Do you not see where your argument falls down?

Rebel, expecting to beat teams like Portsmouth, Reading and Fulham is not too much to ask for. We have better players than them and have spent more money than them.
If you are a top 4 team (which we were when Benitez took over. He hasn't taken us there) then its reasonable to think we should be beating teams in the bottom half of the table.
Are you just happy that Benitez is at the club and any win at all, or even a draw is considered a delightful little bonus?

Because thats my agenda? To slaughter my club? Bizarre reasoning as per.

Darren bent is a fantastic striker, who i would fuckign love as back up and is better than our options. If it didnt' work out then i would be surprised. Adam johnson is a young player would could be worth a punt, and at least has some pace and trickery in his locker rather than our very own flying dutchman. And noble would be a less injured solid player. i still think aqua will be good, the lad is a talent, but you can't take a 17mil risk on a plyer who plays handfuls of games a season. I hope he turns into the core of our squad, i honestly do. But at the moment i think the money could've been spent better and wiser

Rafa's a proven world class coach. Is Gerrard not a world class player then? He played against Reading and Pompey too.

Oh, and as for those players i said, how can you say they're shit? Fair enough johnson is young and relatively unproven in top flight, however noble is consistently solid. And as for darren bent....his striking record is solid enough for any team. He has pace, can dribble and knows where the net is. But thats not good enough?

We know he is, howevr benitez clearly isn't motivating the players .Even our own captain fantastic has become poor recently. What else can it be blamed on? When he was fully fit he was still acting like he didn't care

Which is absolute fair comment. Gerrard has been woeful and not looked up for it at all. Nor has he appeared fit since returning from injury. I said as much after the Portsmouth game

This season, yeah. The thing is your angry and you're looking for a scapegoat so naturally Rafa is the man to direct your (and others) frustration at, I understand that. But you're advocating sacking the 2nd most sucessful manager of an English club over the last five years halfway through the season. We have good and bad moments as a club and sacking a manager months after giving a 5 year contract is folly. My own opinion is now is not the time to sack Rafa.

People need to remember how far he has taken us as a club. He's made us a global force again and has made us appear as a big club, which other than our illustrious history, we are not. I repeat, now is not the time to sack Rafa.

2nd most succesful manager behind who ? Surely Ferguson and Mourinho have won more ?

Really? Proven by who?

Sure he's a top coach, it'd be foolhardy to say otherwise (as most PL managers are), but he's simply not in the same company as Fergie, Wenger or indeed Mourinho. They are world class coaches who have shown they can build teams with consistency as well as quality over a length of time.

Rafa, even in his finest hours with us and Valencia has never shown such consistency with his teams. From winning the spanish league to coming 5th the following season. From winning the CL and coming 5th in the same season behind Everton. He's builds very yo-yo teams. Do well one year, poorly the next.. then well the next year.. just look at our league finishes/seasons with him.. and Valencias'.
Saying that, i'd be tempted to keep him on for one more year as next year, going by his yo-yo record, will be a good year.

Your point on Gerrard being world class is what i'm saying. We've got top players and top internationals who seem incapable of playing well consistently as a team. This wouldn't be the case if we indeed had a world class coach.

No, we can beat those teams. we're inconsistant because of our circumstances, because we rely on young players, free transfers etc..

I can understand the logic to not getting rid now, and i do appreciate what he has done for us. However others have said it before. This reeks of houllier. I personally like the man because for the memories he's given us. however we have a squad there ho are so talented, and adored by the fans, who simply aren't playing to their standard. If only a couple were being poor then i could say it was their problem, however the squad is dire in form presently, and it must be a behind the scenes issue. The stand offish approach of benitez isn't what we need to gee up the players. Even big wins don't seem to do it now (see Man united) when they used to.

I just want him to leave before he becomes hated.

the only free transfer on the pitch last night was probably one of our better players. And we don't rely on youth enough, they are the players who would die for the shirt, as they want to prove themselves. Pacheco last night would have given us much better options than when babel came on

Mate his record proves he's a world class coach and your attempts at belittling his achievements to prove your point wont wash with me. If We sack him today, he'll be inundated with job offers by the weekend and I'll tell you this, he wont be in a footballing backwater like Galatasary either.

It's harsh to call Benitez anything other than a top level coach. He is. Can he take us forwards though ? That's seriously in doubt. I've chilled a little over the course of the day but I really do think it's time for him to move on.

Well if you actually read the thread, you'd see that wasn't exactly a fair summation and if you don't like the thread you can choose not to participate. Making personal comments on posters doesnt contribute to an engaging thread. But that's just my opinion, I'm not a Mod or anything.

So having a few free transfers and cheap players means that we can't beat a team who can't afford to pay their players?

Also, in case you didn't notice, most of our first team played last night. And among those who were missing was our keeper, who was replaced by a back up who cost over 3 million. And we're supposedly on the breadline are we?
