SA v England & Wales

At some stage during the first two Ashes tests this year, Stuart MacGill 'predicted' on the Australian coverage that Graeme Swann 'will never take another test wicket'.

What a fucking stupid, bitter, fat-headed, porcine, fucking cunting fucking cunt.

MacGill is such a a fucking stupid, bitter, fat-headed, porcine, fucking cunting fucking cunt that I actually feel sorry for him.

England win by an innings and 98 runs.

Magnificent performance. Swann second highest test wicket-taker for the calendar year.

Indeed, with Broad and Anderson, England have three of the top five.

An. Innings. And. 98. Runs.

Nelson Mandela! Can you hear me, Nelson Mandela? Your boys took a helll of a beating! A helllllllllllllll of a beating!

Is exactly what Nelson heard whilst in prison...

I'm not in the least cocky, LTW - I fully expect the wounded Saffers to come roaring back at Capetown. They have a great record there against England. And I don't think the selectors will have their arms twisted any more to pick Ntini - he is getting on now and has lost a lot of pace. De Wet must have been very disappointed to be dropped after his great performance at Centurion and I predict he will be back for Capetown and do some damage to the England batting order.

... and people tell me the South African fans are 'cocky' ...

I know a couple besides you, and they're not the least bit cocky, but they'd have got full value out of me if the result had gone the other way. Lighten up.

This probably is one of the best overseas performances by an English side come on surely were allowed to be a tiny bit cocky.

Sorry, painful losses hurt ... Oh well, at least we still have the Rugby over those pussy cats, I mean Lions. 😉

This was an outstanding performance by England. I do think South Africa have a better team and will come back hard at us .... but this test has gone very well.

Yet they lose to the Irish 😉

South Africa once again well and truly on the ropes 127-5. Swann just bowled for a hatrick but didn't get the wicket.

not sure if it's great england bowling or shitting south african batting, but kallis and boucher fell quickly and south africa was all out for 291.

in response, england are 78-4 (strauss, trott, pietersen for a duck and collingwood are all gone)

Cook and Bell are slowly retrieving the position - 133-4 at tea. Cook is still refusing to play at anything outside his off stump, which means his progress is painfully slow ........ but at least he hasn't got out!

The new ball is playing a big part in these test matches - the Kookaburra ball will swing and bounce for the first 20 overs or so, but then it becomes soft and easier to score runs with. Cook and Bell should really be taking advantage of the old ball while they can.

This is poised to be another fascinating test match. The Saffers record at cape town is incredible, so a result for England here would be a real feather in the cap. Another crucial innings from Cook here- Bell needs to stick around. KP is going to find himself getting a lot of shit soon.

Only 50 behind at the end of day 2. If England get on par it'll be a psychological boost for the bowling attack.

I think there will be a result here for sure... *Prays for some explosive bowling from Broad & Anderson tomorrow*

Yeah, all the pundits were saying in the lead-up to the game that this was a tasty pitch which was likely to produce a clear result.

COME ON ENGLAAAAAAAAAAND!

The man's a poet and doesn't even know it. 😉

Yes indeed, batting fourth could be highly, er, entertaining. I wonder to what extent Strauss took that into account when he made his choice before the first innings.

there will be a result here ... let's be honest, both sides will surely not be so eager to give up so many cheap wickets ... not sure which way this test will swing ... gonna be a good one, that's for sure.

I don't know mate, but i guess it all comes down to how well they read the pitch before play kicked off on day 1.

The new ball seems to be crucial. and i don't think England will want to be chasing much more than 250 to win.

Going into the second test it seemed like Cook, Bell and Prior were liabilities with the bat. We'd have struggled without them - that improvement and the strength of our other 4 batsmen gives me hope that we could chase 250-300.

England all out for 273.

South Africa hold a lead of 18 ...

Let's hope Smith and co can actually get a nice total over the next few sessions ...

South Africa were very lucky to survive the early sessions with only Prince's wicket (I'm still rather amused he had the play reviewed. He's probably ended his test career with that call) being lost. Amla and Smith have been lucky but have forged a fantastic partnership (185* currently) that will probably leave England fighting for a draw over 5 sessions or so.

Wizzy old pal, in cricket it's "innings" in the singular as well as the plural.
