Both Flanno and Cissokho are better defensively than attacking, it shows both in balance and how the defence operate as a unit.

Cissokho is awful going forward though and we are hampered by that when we play teams that let us control the ball for most of the game.

to be fair flanno has made some brilliant runs / passes forward for us this season

Be pedantic about the wording or whatever, first and foremost they can both defend, and it's had zero negative impact on our offensive play, which is what I said weeks ago and months ago, before being shot down with condescending jarg about modern football.

Cissokho's been out of position countless times this season. Can't believe you're using him as an argument for players that can defend.

Heres my post from summertime.

I think its widely known that I love the cunt. I especially love the fact he seems to be slimming down and trying to look like a right sexy wee cunt:

I especially love the paradoxical dichotomy between him looking like a fucking rock hard mafia don and actually being a playful oversexed pussycat. It will leave players not knowing where the fuck they stand with him and less likely to take the piss.

I also like the way he has gone from almost doe eyed giddyness at being the manager of Liverpool to being resolute and strong in his attitude with players and especially the ruthless nature he has had in ripping Kennys mess apart. It must have taken balls to go to the hooded claw and say 'You know that 100m you spent......'
His signings:
Allen
Assaidi
Alberto
Aspas
Kolo
Mignolet
Borini
Coutinho
Sturridge
are still a mixed bag, but given that they combined cost less than Carroll, Downing and Henderson he has done a good job and most of them have a lot of potential to improve. I also think its safe to say that (as we are in the moneyball age) he could sell the lot for a profit if he chose to.
But by the by, he has had what he has had to spend and has in the main part improved the squad. He also seems to have that knack of getting more out of players than others thought able, Downing and Henderson the two obvious choices (hopefully he can do this with one of his own players this year in Borini, we need Borini to step up big time).
He had a mixed first season with results, but then the squad is/was so imbalanced and so full of overpaid wastes of space that I can only hold him so responsible.
I like the football he wants us to play, I like the kind of players he is trying to bring in, I like the way he talks about the club. There has been very little that hasnt impressed me in the last 13 months. Results need to improve but since the day he came in they have been improving. And if we can start like we finished (I know we are always saying this) then we could be about to get back into the big leagues.

My one and only concern is that we still dont have a strong enough midfield in the middle. Maybe Mr Rodgers now exclusively sees Gerrard in that role with Lucas, and I have to be honest, I thought the two of them were brilliant in the Stoke game, they broke up play well and they flew into challenges, nothing came through our centre, but I would like to see Gerrard playing further forward and another player in next to Wonderman.
But regardless, im happy as a pig in shit. Maybe coz I have a man crush on Mr Rodgers. I think hes the fucking Don.

I'm not nit picking. If he keeps doing what he's doing then he will be properly loved soon. I love watching his reaction to our goals. I loved Rafa but hated his refusal to express joy when we score.

Typical Suarez, diving again.

I like Rodgers. He's a tough bastard and I hope he is trying to build a dynasty here.

Just imagine IF we won the league. The Love would be unmeasurable.

Dont be hatin on Rafa.
Were better than that.
European Cup
Fa Cup
Mascherano
Torres
Xabi
Reina
Arbeloa
Agger
Skrtel
Johnson
Lucas
Nah I love ugly fucker.
He might just take us to the promised land. Wish he landed a few good signings though.
Hate his tinkering....love that he seems to learn from his mistakes

Well ideally I'd have Enrique ahead of him, but he can defend, a few lapses aside. Especcially when theyre the sort of lapses Johnson and Kelly do as second nature. Defensively we look alot better, if you want to continue to be a pedant about the details then go for it, or you could just acknowledge the point (that wasnt even aimed at you anyway), that having fullbacks who defend first and attack second, has changed nothing about our forward play AND its helped shore things up at the back - though obviosly its fashionable to give zero credit to Cissokho, as hes the latest favourite scapegoat. Contrary to Ryans guff about fullbacks in the modern game, when he poured scourn over my thread recently which suggested Flanagan taking the right back spot and a more naturally defensive left sided player. Skrtel looks alot better now he's not having to mop up everyones fuck ups left, right and centre.

I think your argument with the rude sod Ryan was that you wanted a 'flat back four', which under Rodger's system would never, ever, happen. The fullbacks always, always push up to both join in with the attack to give width and to allow the central attackers to more easily do their business by the space created. They also need to position themselves ahead of the CB's when we have the ball in our own half.
Which means the players playing fullback need to be comfortable with the ball and confident in attack.
Forget Johnson and Cissokho (though somehow you seem to love him). Being good at defending is a prerequisite.

A year ago the Reds were 29 points off the summit. Today the gap is just six points with both Chelsea and Manchester City still to visit Anfield before May.

The transformation the Northern Irishman has overseen, which will surely be rewarded with a new contract in the near future, is epitomised by their dominance on home turf.

He inherited a squad which had won just six league games at Anfield in the 2011/12 campaign. Where once they wilted under the pressure and expectation of performing in L4, they now embrace it.

A remarkable return of 34 points out of a possible 39 at home so far this term illustrates that the fear factor has been restored.

Rodgers - much like Moyes at United - has had no impact on his team's fortunes. It's just the natural progression of the sides, because tactics are like counting cards, and coaching is overrated.

This is one hell of a stat. I feel like this will be our year for the CL. The only thing in our way is ourselves (delivering another Villa/WestBrom) and the mighty Spurs, somehow 3 points behind us!!

I think fourth place is in the bag. Even if we somehow manage to miss out, I think Rodgers has already done enough this season to be sure of being here next season.

Spurs have a pretty nasty set of fixtures still to come don't they?

They've got Newcastle away on Wednesday, so we could be 6 ahead soon if things go our way. Then in a few weeks they've got Chelsea away and Arsenal home close together and then they come to Anfield soon after. Plus the goal difference is worth another point.

Tbh I think we're going to have to fuck up pretty royally not to CL from here.

They have Chelsea (A), Arsenal (h), and us in March (A). We have United in March

they have Norwich, Cardiff, Newcastle in Feb.

We have Chelsea, City, Man U to come.. after March, they have a super easy (on paper) run in. If anything their run in is easier.
