Rodgers to LCFC

Surprised by the timing and the club choice.

Leicester can be a good move. Other clubs with similar potential like Brighton, West Ham, Watford and Wolves seem solved on Manager side. So the other alternatives could be Everton (if they part side With Silva), Newcastle (If Rafa takes another Challenge), C Palace (When Woy leaves), and Bournemouth (If Howe get a promotion somwhere) has less potential (Everton aside maybe but he will not go there I Guess) than Leicester. Maybe Chelsea or Arsenal look for new managers in the near future, but unlikely they go for Rodgers unless he shows himself in PL? United job will probably not go his way either.

And unfortunately, the fact they won the title out of the blue will undermine any manager coming in and - very understandably - asking for time and patience.

In his position I'd have wondered about the Chelsea job for sure, given his previous successful stint as their youth coach.

Good move for him. He's a bit weird (have you seen that massive picture of himself he owns?) but I wish the guy well.

I'm not sure why you're surprised at the club choice, half the time it's about opportunity. Do you think he should be holding out for Chelsea or United?

More so that he has a golden opportunity to get Celtic to the record breaking 10 in a row and go down as the clubs greatest ever manager and be loved for life. As it is he’s gonna tarnish his record after so many comments about Celtic not being a stepping stone but where he belongs. Many of my Celtic mates already have said they are disgusted by him leaving mid way through the season for Leicester.

At worst he should wait until the end of season. Complete another treble then move back south.

If it was Chelsea or Arsenal their fans would understand but Leicester?

He’s going from winning trophies every season, playing in Europe, having one of the best atmospheres in world football and being seen a manager who gets the club much like we feel Klopp gets Liverpool, to a club who’s ceiling is what? At best 7th. They need heavy investment in an aging core. Players who revolt if the manager tries to alter their style and zero chance of European footy.

As for the chance to manage in England, considering the average EPL manager lasts less than a year these days there will always be chances to manager a team outside the top 6 in the summer and beyond.

Personally I think he has a better chance of landing one of the big rolls if he continues to win in Scotland of even if he went to Spain or Germany where he’s style of football is more suited.

He’s taking a huge risk by going to Leicester, even if he does get them challenging for top 6 I don’t see the big boys looking at him then. But it’s more likely he won’t do that and will get fired and undo all the reputation rebuilding he’s done in Scotland.

It’s a crazy move imo at this stage but then Rodgers was always about his own ego so maybe he thinks he can do it.

The club's greatest ever manager? No.

Celtic are pretty much an irrelevance from a football point of view - the only purpose they serve is a sectarian one

Pochetino got the Spurs job off the back of guiding Southampton to 8th place in the league. If Rodgers can get Leicester into the top 8 then bigger offers will follow. The timing is odd being midway through the season and no doubt Celtic fans will be pissed off but I really dont think winning another trophy there boosts his profile.

Klopp on Rodgers' return to the PL: "As long as he's not going to Everton I'm fine because then he might want his house back!"

It's the SPL, even Tim Sherwood would win domestic titles with Celtic.

Surely the big story is how far have Celtic fallen when Brendan Rodgers leaves you for Leicester f***ing City and Neil Lennon is your back up Manager?

Are these the same Celtic fans saying he's a disgrace that were cheering Martin O'Neill for ditching Leicester for them?

Nobody else has won every title. Every single one.
Outside Scotland, they're shit, so much so they have trouble getting past East European farmers.

Winning all 4 titles in Scotland is about as impressive as a 10-year-old winning tiddlywinks world championship, at the end of the day, no-one cares.
