Loving how Utd are sweating and panicking. Another dodgy draw. Fans in hiding but I'm routing them out and giving the bastards the stick that they deserve. they're not as arrogant anymore but who cares. They deserve everything they're getting in bucket loads.

How beautiful is that. Finally they're getting the rough shod treatment we used to.
We can laugh at this now, but for sure those years of underachievement have been painful. And it's funny but true – at almost every point most of the fans believed we are just "2-3 good players" away from the title. Whereas, as Rodgers' transfer activity has showed, pretty much the whole squad needed replacing. It's not fun to be in decline.
I have to say they are taking a huge gamble this summer, they are out nearly 250 million over the last 12 months. They are betting the farm on VanGaal to get them back in the top 4 this season because it he doesnt then I really dont think there will be any more money left to spend. I read somewhere that the Glazers budget for a loss of 30 million or so a season on players, if thats the case then this is an all or nothing move and if it doesnt work they will be stuck with a lot of older players on huge money that will be tough to move on with no funds to rebuild. If Mourinho spent the money VanGaal is spending he would be expected to win the league or be fired

This little Utd mascot of ours seems to think there'll be a never ending supply of money for Woodward to throw away, and so they needn't worry about CL qualification. He'll be proved hilariously wrong on that account IMO.
What Utd should be worried about is the other 4 big clubs being able to move so far into the distance over the next few years that no amount of overspending will claw them back. Us and Chelsea, in particular, have young squads bursting with talent and potential, which will get stronger every year for the next 5 years without a penny being spent. Utd's on the other hand will get weaker. I reckon they already need to spend £100m or so next summer to catch up to our level. Plus maybe £20m a year to account for their ageing squad. Plus £50m CL income they won't have. Plus £30m in desperation/bribery payments for a lack of CL football.
Over five years that comes to £120m a year they need to spend just to keep pace with us and Chelsea. Arsenal just need to get rid of Wenger to be sound. City should be ok for the next few years too.

Of course I don't think it is a never ending supply but CL income is far less significant than in the past and far less significant for United than other clubs.
CL revenue was about £35m last season.
The PL income has increased to over £80m for the top half teams. Twice what the CL brings in.
This year we earn £30m more per season for the Chevrolet deal. Next year without CL the Nike deal gets us £27m per season more. That is an almost £60m more income than when we made £130m per season.
Why is CL income so much more valuable than all these other incomes?
