I think it's easy to forget that Wages are also a big party of FFP. Spending say 20-30M more on wages this year with Falcao, Di Maria, Mata, etc takes a big bite out of that 100M figure.

We have also got rid of Rio, Vidic, Giggs, Evra all on over £100k and players like Welbeck and Hernandez on about £75k each.
That is probably £30m knocked off the wage bill.

Disappointed that Welbeck has been allowed to leave but Falcao is definitely an upgrade.

Mata is going to be the one to miss out as they can't all play unless RvP is going to be out for a few months.

With all the new arrivals I think we will switch to 433

------------ De Gea

Rafael--Rojo---Jones---Shaw

-------------Blind

...Herrera------------Di Maria

------------Rooney

--------Falcao------RvP

Back 4 could be better but the front 4 if you include Di Maria is as strong as anyone in the league.

By the time they all settle we will be well off the pace for the top 4, but a much better foundation too build upon than we started the season

Like I said t'other day; that entire right flank is fucking laughable. That entire line-up is fucking laughable actually. This isn't Championship Manager son.

That is a 4-4-2 diamond.

I don't think it is great but I don't think it laughable. Both blind and Herrera can get back to cover.
Maybe if we are looking particularly weak defensivelyn on that wing Smalling might come in instead of Rafael

I could fucking waltz through that midfield and I make Charlie Adam look like new Ronaldo

In that formation, rooney, the new captain, is out of his favourite position. Has Rafael and Herrera on the right. A joke of a defence, and only Blind that can tackle out of the midfield 4. Quality.

Thank fuck they didn't spent that 250mill on Hummels, Mangala, Moreno, Vidal, Strootman, Bale.

Herrera is lightweight, blind isn't much better than what you've already got. Rojo won't play until he's found innocent of glassing his neighbour, Shaw is tubby.

Evans is underrated so he's probably your best cb

Signed Falcao eh ? if he so much looks at Mario, Sterline, or Sturridge with a look that is kind of nasty - I hope Brendan brings them into the office and the conversation will go like this:-

BR: - Listen son - I saw that Falcao look at you in a funny way. I think he was being racist - probably nothing.

SMS: yeah - I felt it Boss, I am going to make a complaint to the FA

FA: Falcao banned for 7 games.

Anything - and we will do the fucker.

By my math, Mata+Falcao+Di Maria add roughly 800k/wk to your wage bill. Plus I'd imagine Blind and Rojo are on fairly generous deals, and isn't Luke Shaw on a bumper deal as well? So conservatively call it adding 1M/wk to the wage bill gross. Haven't cut anywhere near this number off.

I would be very surprised if you spent anywhere near that 100M figure in the next several windows.

Didn't mourinho say they pulled out of a deal because he wanted over 100k?

I'm going to skip financial debates from now on, think most are tiring of me repeating the same stuff over and over.

I believe Rooney's contract specifies that he always has to be the highest-paid player. (The things clubs are prepared to agree to! 🙄 )

The Falcao deal presumably means that Rooney's pay will go up.

Is it because you are clinging to hope that you can spend your way out of the hole you've dug yourselves into, but it's slowly dawning on you that taking that approach isn't realistic?

Because this sounds like a cop out to me. You've increased your wage bill by roughly 500k/wk this window, and are looking at spending a net of roughly 150-160M, plus another 40M for Juan Mata from last January, which I'll let you add to last year's window(Net Spend 70M 2013)

So looking at 160M this summer, plus another 25M in wages.

Your net spend in years past has been in the 45-70M range, but I'm not familiar with what the gross income was at that point. If I were to guess, it would be around 100-130M, meaning there is around 50-70M in expenses that are being accounted for, which is a number that is likely escalating year over year.

And with FFP regulations, you cannot continuously pay these large scale expenses ahead. So if I'm not badly mistaken with any of these figures, this is the boom or bust season. And if it goes bust, FFP will put down regulations to restrict your spending in future seasons. Because while their first year largely did nothing, I do believe that their threats will be heeded, even PSG managed their spending after all.

That surely isn't true?

The money they're wasting, jesus. It's incredible.

If the thread consisted of taking the piss out of them, fair enough, but it doesn't.. It's boring shit that I'd say 3 people care about.

I suppose I could just stop reading it, but any excuse for a good old fashioned poll and a bit of drama.

I think the football fans want this to stay open, and the Liverpool fans want this to be locked.

I think the 'football fans' can fuck off to a scum forum and the Liverpool fans can stay here.
