Ok, time to move on, for me anyway. We need a new centre midfielder and a first teamer at that.

What's your preference?

So you don't think we need to replace him then?

From the very pits of my bowels I implore you to reconsider.

If we can buy Villa and one of the midfielders you mentioned that would be even better but I think a striker is the main priority.
Gerrard can play in the middle.
Id be livid if I see Lucas taking Alonso's role though.

Gerrard

Buy Villa.
what le chacal said. only option if we are going to compete to win the league this season.

the 4231 of the last 2 years is finished with alonso no longer there to dictate the play, sure we'll still do well against tactically naive teams like utd but i'd rather go 442 now.

I don't think we can afford Villa anyway

Bearing that in mind I went for Aquilani, because I believe he'd provide the less disruption to a side which is very close to winning the title.

yep through injury 😉

If Aquilani didn't have his injury problems I'd have opted for him as he seems ideal, but I'll have to plump for Silva and hope that between Masher, Lucas, Spearing and Gerrard filling in, we'd have enough.

im just full of hatred and have ill wishes towards the manager for example being sithed down by a horrific violent tackle from skrtel. i wish evil things. the only thing that could calm me down is if an acadamy player like spearing stepped up and played well.

How did you vote Rage?

defour

I'm hoping for Silva + Aquilani(or like).

We should be able to afford two quality signings if the Alonso fee is £30+4m as reported. How much do you guys reckon we have to spend now? Surely over £40m?

it's really up to the scouts now, this is how they earn their money
Yes Tarquin, it blemmin' well is.

if we can get rid of fatty then 40 million plus i'm thinking.

depends where the gj deal money came from as well i suppose.

Sadly I have not seen Aquaman play, but seeing as though most say he's the 'obvious' replacement, I went with the crowd.

I'd go with Defour purley because Aquilani has a poor injury record. I'd hate to spend 18M on a crock and see Lucas starting every match.

The truth is we should have swen up Barry. Instead we hung on to get every drop we could for Alonso and we're going to spend more on players inferior to Barry.

call him aquaman again and i'll fucking kneecap you.

We really should have ~40M£+ to spend now, no?

30-34M£ for Xabi, 3,5M for Arbeloa, 3M for Leto and ~1M for some youngsters. Maybe a Dossena sale too.

Considering that we didn't pay much up front for Johnson (the Crouch money and the left overs from the Keane sale), there shouldn't be a problem as long as the owners don't demand some of the money for debt paying.

So, ~40M£ plus maybe a few more mill from our original transfer kitty, if we had one that is.

Let's fucking spend it! Aquilani and Silva for starters, please.

Aye but if Alonso goes for 30+, how do you think Valencia will value Silva?
No doubt we're about too find out. We'll go all in with a bid of £15M, stick to our guns until Sept 1st and then scratch our arses whilst he is signing for Man City next May.

I defo think we'd get him for 25M£ tops.
