Reina 7 - Clean sheet, but to be honest he barely had anything to do. Great reflex save at the end.

Kyrgiakos 7 - Good game, some shoddy positioning at times. Nearly scored.
Agger 8 - Great performance, started most of our attacks. Our new Hansen. Please don't get injured
Skrtel 7 - Still our Achilles heel. Better today. Looses too many aerial challenges for my liking.

Kelly 6 - Decent. Got forward, defended well. His decision making and awareness needs work.
Johnson 7 - Good performance. Our new left back.

Aurelio 6 - Quiet game, but did OK.
Lucas 7 - Must have been Alonso in a Lucas suit.
Meireles 8 - Should be a 7 but I'll give him an extra point for the goal. Nice passing and movement.

Gerrard 8 - Covered every inch of the grass. Tracked back and got forward. Back to his best.

Kuyt 9 MOM - Inspiring performance. Unlucky not to get on the score sheet. Great assist to Suarez goal. Worked his socks of as usual.

Subs:

Shelvey 6 - Is getting better and better. Promising.
Suarez 7 - Well taken goal. What a start to his LFC career.

Didn't watch it. Was Stevie more controlled or was he still driving forward and what not?
[/quote]Total free role. He was everywhere. It was an awesome game.

It's about right. Everyone deserves at least a 7 today with some 8's and 9's sprayed around. Good stuff.

Reina 8 - Safe as houses. Had relatively little to do yet was fully focused when he did.

Kelly 7 - Solid again. Consistently good with endless energy. Needs to work on his crossing.
Soto 9 - A constant threat in Stoke side offensively and outmuscled Carew for 90 minutes. Nothing got past him.
Skrtel 7 - Did a solid defensive job. Bottled under pressure when he was up on goal early on. Meh.
Agger 8 - Fantastic. In control of every situation and some wonderful marauding forward runs.
Johnson 8 - Solid again. Stupid yellow card but his pace kept Pennant in check and he offered a good threat going forward.

Aurelio 8 - Fine game out of position. He covered for Johnson well and tackled hard in the middle of the pitch aswell as having tremendous vision for picking passes through the middle
Lucas 8 - Gave the ball away a bit too frequently but kept things simple and pulled off some great long passes (not hoofs!)

Meireles 7 - Good goal and kept the play going nicely but was shrugged off the ball a little too easily for my liking a few times.
Gerrard 8 - Everywhere. Strong challenges. Insightful passing. Great shots.

Kuyt 9 - Showed he can still play up front. Great movement and kept Stoke defenders busy for 90 minutes.

Subs:

Shelvey 6 - Does what he always does. Made an impact after coming on with his passing and shot on goal.
Suarez 7 - Some wonderful flicks and passes and cool head to round the keeper.

Manager:

Kenny 10 - Spot on team selection and proved all doubters wrong. Subs made at perfect times and the only thing i'd change would've been to perhaps give N'Gog a run out for 10minutes.

kuyt -9
Gerrard, lucas, agger and soto- 8
Everyone else 7

You gave Kenny 7 😉

*Remembers when Roy Hodgson said that we only have two strikers at out club - Torres and N'gog

*Laughs hysterically

I bet he thought N'gog was the best striker at our club.

Also, i'm not going to entertain the thought of selling Agger anymore. When he plays like that, it is fucking beautiful...

what's the point in criticising him for that? He showed the desire to win the ball back in the last third and had there been more numbers forward it could have led to a break, its not like that's what he's there for. By all means slate the lad for a shit defensive display, but last night he was solid and didn't really put a foot wrong.

Reina - 7 not much to do but a great point blank save

Kelly - 6.5 Couple of good crosses but again left Skrtel wide open and made a few daft errors in possession
Skrtel - 7.5 Solid, won practically everything and covered for Soto and Agger's ventures forward.
Soto - 7 Always a threat in the opposition box, great passion to win challenges usually in an orthodox way. All heart.
Agger - 8 Excellent display, particularly going forward, was given licence to step up from the back and it helped the numbers in midfield.
Johnson - 7 Not allowed to get forward as much as he would have liked but was denied a goal by a brilliant save and not much got by him.

Lucas - 7.5 Won alot in midfield and played some perfect through balls to the edge of the box and beyond. Good game.
Aurelio - 6.5 Solid in a less familar role, did the job of keeping the ball moving and helping Lucas protect.
Gerrard - 7 Everywhere and slowly easing back to his best, some good deliveries and a great shot late on, great interplay too.
Meireles - 8 What more can you say about this lad of late? Industrious, clever and a cracking shot. Good goal again.

Kuyt - 9 Excellent centre forward play, did someone show him the videos of Carroll? He was playing the perfect centre forward role, some of his lay offs and link up play was exceptional. If we'd have got more players around him early on it might have paid off. Top player still ridiculously maligned because of a lack of pace and occasional shit first touch. He's Liverpool through and through because he gives EVERYTHING.

Ridiculous Mark ... I didn't see anyone not give Kuyt extreme credit for being the best player on the pitch (or at least equal to Gerrard). He was fantastic but now he only has an 'occassional shit first touch'? Why when a player plays well there is a need to suddenly defend him as if all his deficiencies have magically disappeared? He's always been a solid ST/CF - and a very capable RW in the 4-2-3-1 formation (where pace isn't as critical).

Reina - 7

Skrtl - 6.5
Agger - 7.5
Soto - 7

Johnson - 7 - he's really playing well ... fun to see him having fun again
Kelly - 6.5 - new position, so he wasn't as strong as before but I just like what I see

Lucas - 7.5 - solid
Meirless - 7.5 - 3 goals in 3 games ... Keep it up!
Aurelio - 7

Gerrard - 8.5 - fantastic game. I bet he's happy he'll have strikers in front of him who give 100% every game

Kuyt - 9 - one of his best games for Liverpool I think.

Subs:

Suarez - 7 - a few nice flicks, a debut goal ... welcome #7!
Shelvy - 6.5 - lad is going ot be good.

I'm talking about in general mate, not on the back of this game. People were posting stuff even yesterday saying how "he'll be gone at the end of the season" etc..

I'll never be one of Kuyt's biggest fans but the lad has earned his right to be a part of this club - and I want him to win medals with us. He's an excellent option as our 3rd striker (after Carroll and Suarez), and until we get better - he's our best option on the RW (4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2) not named Gerrard. He should stay here as long as he can contribute as he normally does ...

I really like Kuyt, but he can be frustrating at times. If a £10 Million offer came in during the summer I'd sell. Mainly because of his age and because I believe we can find someone better.

Kuyt was MOTM last night, no doubt about that, but he has been dire for 2 years now.
Looks like the incoming competition has him upping his game.
3rd choice striker? Fine by me, but he isnt getting any younger.

Just watched the whole game again on lfctv and on reflection Gerrard, Agger, Kuyt and Johnson should all be 9's they were amazing.
Gerrard was as good as ive ever seen him. He was everywhere.

I can't believe everyone going on about how great we were and chucking 8s and 9s about.

We were alright, but 6s and 7s innit.

No Krump ... I think we were a lot better than 6s and 7s ... a lot.

We could have done better in the final third (and with Carroll and Suarez we will) but it was beautiful Pass n Move to watch, our defending was excellent and we dominated Stoke, a hard team to dominate as they have proven. In the end the possession stat that came up at the end of the match said it all ; Liverpool 61% Stoke 39%.

Reina - 6.5
Kelly - 6.5
Agger - 8.5
Skrtel - 7
The Greek - 8
Johnson - 8
Aurelio - 8
Lucas - 8
Gerrard - 9
Meireles - 8
Kuyt - 9 MoM

Me arse. Giving all them 8s and 9s out says that's about as good as it gets for them players outside of a full three weetabix day. I'm not having that. There's plenty of room for improvement.

They were better than they have been, but I'm fucked if anyone's getting an 8, bar Suarez, and that's only coz last goalscorer at 6/1 instantly exorcised the ghost of Fernandough as far as I'm concerned. Fuck that rent boy, he was shit.

but but we are stringing results together, have a positive goal difference finally and 2 points off 6th place (we were genuinely fearing relegation only a month back)......you have got to allow for some hyperbole.

i get krumps view. the first 30 minutes i was praying for a change as i didn't think we'd adapt to the system. As well as we wer playing we improved dramatically when suarez came on. We had more balance

how about a compromise of 7 and 8's with kuyt and gerrard at 9

I've just watch an hour of highlights on LFC.TV and I have to say I'm with Krump on this. After all the 8s and 9s, talk of great football and what not I was expecting big things, but all in all it was a display that showed further improvement. There is still a long way to go though.

No. I don't think most deserved as much as a 6. And the idea that one of the best players I've ever watched was at 90% capacity last night makes me shudder. For Gerrard to get a 9 he has to score two outstanding goals and do one of them tackles where he flies in like a starfish but just gets the ball and none of the player.

Johnson was a mess positionally for most of the game. I really felt for Aurelio whose game suffered cos the poor fucker was constantly running to LB to cover Johnson who had dropped inside, or running up to LW to cover Johnson who was reluctant to get up the pitch.

Admittedly it's one of those annoying things that you only see when you're at the game, on tv cos they dont always have the ball you dont know it's happening!

It wasnt as good as some of you think, but it was a good performance, nevertheless.

The ratings always tend to be a bit ott after a comfortable win and likewise after a defeat. Now we haven't excactly had much of these comfortable wins it's only natural the ratings are in proportion to the expectations.
