Themn - Not one person on this site likes Le Chacal. He wouldn't even have a taker in the "don't mind him' category either.

Even 'Rage' had one or two fans.

More interested by the last bit to be honest

Rafa Benitez warned Liverpool that they must deliver on a string of promises if he is not to be lured away by Juventus in the summer.

After previously refusing to acknowledge Juventus wanted him as long-term replacement for the sacked Ciro Ferrara, Benitez dramatically changed his stance ahead of today's home game with Bolton.

'I know they are interested, and you have to be proud when one of the top sides in Europe wants you,' he declared.

Liverpool's hierarchy, and supporters, may well be alarmed at a sudden willingness to discuss a pursuit that began last Monday, when the Juventus board decided Ferrara had to pay the price for growing public unrest at their team's poor form.

They kept news of his fate from him until yesterday but wasted no time putting out feelers for Benitez, in the hope he could somehow be persuaded to jump ship midway through the season season and take over immediately. When it became clear that would not be possible, they appointed Alberto Zaccheroni as interim coach until the end of the season and vowed to try again for Benitez in the summer.

Despite facing uncertainty over his own position after early exits from the Champions League and FA Cup and failure to mount a title challenge in the Barclays Premier League, Benitez appeared to be setting out his terms for remaining at Anfield.

'New investors may be coming in, and there is a possibility of a new stadium. It is important now that we see these things happen. We must see the club progressing.

'We are going in the right direction, but we have to make sure we really move forward now, by lining up players who are good and available and trying to sign them. The key is the stadium and investors.

'There has been a lot of talk (about Juventus), and, yes, I know about their interest. As a manager, you have to be proud when a big club, a top club in Europe, have an interest in you and are watching you.

'Perhaps there has been too much talking, but you cannot stop speculation.'

Asked whether players lined up for summer moves to Liverpool - including Anfield-bound Standard Liege striker Milan Jovanovic - might think again were he to leave, Benitez replied: 'They all know I still have four years left on my contract.'

Benitez said that money has been made available for the final weekend of the transfer window but would not be drawn on whether talks between managing director Christian Purslow and Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn would see striker Kenwyne Jones' arrival at Anfield.

'We are working very hard under the conditions we have at this moment.

'But it is best not to ask me about players like Jones. I am the Liverpool manager, not the Sunderland manager,' he said.

He's just stated what we'd all like to see come to fruition at our club.

Even if Rafa is not in charge any top class manager coming in would want to see the same things happening (probably before he signed up)

Juventus have agreed terms with Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez for him to manage the Serie A club next season, according to authoritative reports from Italy last night.

La Repubblica newspaper reported that the club's lawyers will arrive in England today for talks tomorrow about the release of the manager this summer. Benitez's current contract at Anfield runs until 2014.

Juventus president Jean-Claude Blanc is reported to have "already fixed everything with Benitez and has in his drawer a detailed agreement of his terms and length of contract". Juve are keen to reach an agreement and begin making plans for next season.

The Turin club are also keen to minimise any payment they will have to make to Liverpool, and will be aware of the Premier League club's poor form and rumours that the Spaniard's deal makes him "too expensive to sack".

Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport last night confirmed the arrival of Juve's representatives but insisted that it remains uncertain whether Benitez actually wants to leave Anfield.

Juve dismissed Ciro Ferrara as coach and appointed Alberto Zaccheroni on Friday as caretaker manager until the end of the season.

Benitez has come under fire for a spluttering season and doubts over his future intensified with Ferrara's sacking. Benitez signed a new deal in March 2009, intended to keep him at the Merseyside club until 2014, but an early exit in the Champions' League and FA Cup, along with poor Premier League form, has not helped to quash reports of a premature departure.

On Friday, 50-year-old Benitez rejected talk of an imminent move to Juve, saying he was "proud" to be linked with the Old Lady as they are a "top side in Europe" but adding: "I'm happy here and want to do a job as best I can."

Benitez, whose team defeated Bolton 2-0 at Anfield yesterday, said: "I am not here to talk about speculation because people talk too much. I know they [Juventus] were interested, that is part of the game now in football, but I am not ready to talk too much because I don't want to lose my focus."

Former Milan manager Zaccheroni was revealed as Ferrara's replacement until the end of the Serie A campaign, on the back of Juve losing nine of their last 12 games in all competitions.

Their 2-1 defeat by Roma last weekend was their fifth loss in six league games and left them 16 points adrift of leaders Inter. A 2-1 loss to Inter in the Italian Cup on Thursday proved to be Ferrara's last game in charge.

There won't be many top managers interested in joining us, if there's not enough money available for transfer kitty, yet having high expectations.

Thx for the CL Rafa. Best of luck in the future.
[/quote]

Thanks for the CL and the FA Cup, the League Cup Final and the other CL Final, for easily getting us into Europe each season, and for making us one of the 'big three' by finishing 3rd or better in most of your Seasons.

Thanks for the record 8-0 win in the CL too, I like holding records (especially as it was ManU's record we beat).

Thanks for the drink in the pub with the fans, and sitting on the grass too.

Don't worry about the british press hating you, they hate Liverpool in general, and even if 'the special one' was managing us, they would turn on him overnight.

Thanks for giving us back our self-respect and our sense of hope as Liverpool fans. I had wondered whether I would see us lift a major trophy (CL, league) again.
I really hope you are not going to Juve as I don't think we will adequately replace you.

He definitely won't as Juventus have appointed Zaccheroni as a caretaker manager until the end of the season. If he leaves it'll be in the summer.

Yup. I think the person who will replace him will be of Curbishley/Hughes caliber than Jose. Of course, if we get investment in and we have new moderately rich owners, I think we can attract managers of the caliber of Jose.

I have to agree with Abso re the quality of football (leaving the manipulation thing aside as I think Oncey probably has a strong case there).
The football we played in GH's last season was worse, and yes - the football we played in the closing months of last season was fantastic. That said - this year's football is depressing indeed.
