I should make it clear that I was actually - albeit clumsily - trying to stick up for all mods in general and wasn't meaning to sound like I was getting at Whaddapie at all.

Ha! But this is an issue we'll all have to come to terms with - seeing how far we can provoke the mods until they sound like they need to ban themselves. There's a bit of that going on at the moment and it'll only end in tears. They're not country parsons wandering about with prayer books and posies!

Whaddapie is a great poster and he's learning as a mod, which isn't easy, in particular given the new rules we are trying to (vaguely) implement, he and Nessie are probably thinking they didn't sign up for this. The treatment he has had from some senior posters in the last few weeks is fucking shameful in my opinion
 
It's clear that everyone views this 'AUP' as a bit of a joke, so I don't quite get why you guys are still pushing it so hard. From the "go on ban me, it was worth it!" comments to the "You... I mean *your posts*... you all getting this?!?..are cuntish... ha... not going to get banned for that am I? Lol" posts... it's just stupid.

And when you consider that someone like Dantes, who is liked, gets banned for some nothing comment no-one cares about whilst guys like doc_rule were allowed to rack up hundreds of posts pissing everyone off just makes the whole thing even more absurd and embarrassing.

Give the shitty law enforcement a rest and just apply some common sense. It's really not that hard.

Well it has been tried before Keni, and things went OK until recently.
Since then we have had loonies spouting nonsense but without being offensive. We have had people hitting the 'report to moderator' button like it is going out of fashion. We have had people stating 'well **** got banned for less, what are you going to do?' posts. And then the likes of Doc Rule who came online, was issued with a warning within a couple of hours but continued while no mods were online. The forum cannot be policed 24/7, Doc Rule characters are the exception rather than the rule so accept the odd mental will sneak in for a couple of hours.
Common sense is trying to be applied, but people keep bringing this subject up. I wonder how many threads have ended up talking about this same issue? If people leave it alone, things will just settle down naturally. We have got a fairly stable community of hardcore posters that all get along, on the whole.

You probably shouldn't tell anyone when someone is banned (I would never know if anyone is banned otherwise), you're just giving people reason to talk about this again and again.
