(To clarify the players bit, I was naming poor players on Rafa's initial 2005 squad. Yes, I confused Nunez with Gonzalez, and acknowledged that... But I was never talking about who signed who - Just comparing the squads.)

Personally, I think speculating about formations and results is barely any more constructive than fortune-telling, and because of that it leads very easily to boredom and then arguments. Claiming to know why Benitez didn't/couldn't buy a forward last summer (the new theology on here) is similarly pointless, and leads to ordinarily very amiable people going absolutely nuts. And there's not much else going on here. So a bit of playfulness and good humour might help us all. But not even that will work if the spectre of DJ Sydney remains in situ. Come on, we're all supposed to be in this together.

This thread is a bit of a mess but in some ways probably necessary.

I think the majority supported the idea that something would be done regarding levels of abuse on here (I personally had no problem with it but can see why some did) and after a few high profile bans and a few warnings it was kinda looking a little clearer, but there was clearly still some confusion on what is permitted and what isn't.

The banning of dantes on this thread was a bit pathetic in my opinion. He got no warning and only 'offended' once. It seems the mistake he made was choosing a mod in a bad mood as his target.
As things went on said mod went on to use personal abuse against others!

So what actually are the rules here? If we use personal abuse against another normal member are we given a warning but against a mod its an instant ban? If people want a 'them and us' attitude on here, like it was under DJSyd's feeble regime on KT, then surely this is the right way to go about it.

Yes, we're all angry, we're all aware of what the major problems are and we're all intensely frustrated. It's just that not all of us see the point in showing it non-stop day in day out. Personally I could also do without the childish claims to omniscience when it comes to what went on pre-season, in the treatment room and in the dug out. It's exactly what we discussed a couple of weeks back, it's exactly what we said wouldn't be tolerated, it's exactly the kind of response to a poster we wish to stop. Wether you agree with whaddapie or not, he diet resort to insults and abuse and was told to fuck off out of nowhere. As such Dantes has become the 5th poster issued a 24 hour ban. I don't really see where the vaguaries of the whole system are? Maybe we see it from a different point of view, but I think the point that seems to be Being ignored is the difference between 2 posters goading and winding each other up, and 1 poster being abusive out of nowhere.
In addition maybe it will take a while for posters to get used to how far individual mods can be pushed in regards to the new rules.
All that said, stop being knobheads the lot of you, whaddapie has taken a bashing here for no good reason. *looks at brendan*

There are plenty of non-football forums where the mods just like being mods. A bit like people who become refs. But on footie forums the mods are just as passionate and opinionated as the rest of the posters, so it's just unrealistic to expect them to be impervious to bad results and big arguments. I'd say again, they deserve to log off every now and again and take a breather rather than get into scraps that are pretty silly in the first place (but we all get dragged into them on occasions).
