Here's how tired I am... I can't even think of a funny line to add to this 'meph' gag.

Damn you Liverpool, and your late-night wins.

Don't blame Liverpool. It's just that you're unfunny in the first place.

Sheik, I can barely type, I'm on my 2nd coffee, and my eyes are all watery and stuff.

There's a real opening for you here to be more funnierer than me. For once.

you big cunts both of yous! i edited it really quick to avoid a ban and everything.... and theres nothing wrong with my spelling neither.... meffs

Amazing what a win does to quiten the Forum eh?

This place if like a fucking morgue.

I MEAN, PERSONALLY, I'M DISGUSTED THAT RAFA DIDN'T BRING ON AQUILANI.

Interesting discussion on meff, meph etc. It's slang for a scruffy person therefore I always assumed it derived from "methylated spirits" which scruffy tramps swig around the Cathedral for example. Liverpool slang turned "meth" into "meff" and the rest is history.

Anyone else have other insights on this classic insult?

it looks as if its a drug. this one. you're calling people a drug. meph lord. i plan to kill a meph lord next

I assumed it was googled. Isn't Dantes a physicist anyway?
Yeah, & Glock owns a gun factory.

*disclaimer, I actually do think he may be a physicist for some reason, but still it's hardly certain.

if i hunted someone down it would make me a bad person which im not. i prefer to study someone carefully and learn the mistakes they make learn their habits. then if i engineered a situation whereby their own mistake causes them harm what can you do. it'd be their fault for making a mistake
That's the premise of every Saw film. Chilling stuff.

Dantes is great.

im a chemical engineer. i dont know what it needs three methly groups for but i could probably design a process to make lots of it.
fair enough.

I'm looking at a uni course for chemical & energy engineering. what kind of stuff does it entail?

Ryan, my dear meff. After we've had a decent discussion on this subject I promise to post something more on your level. I'll try to be all egotistical, swear at and insult a few posters, generally act the goat etc. Y'know, something you can relate to. It's not your fault that your attention span is comparable to that of a gnat.

What are you basing a gnat's inability to concentrate on?

You been busy watching them so long you've lost the ability to make interesting posts?

lots of maths, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, energy and mass balances. reaction rates, it involves lots of different sciences. which you apply to design a process plant.

at the end of it, you'll be able to look at a system, any system and just have that way of thinking about it in a way taht lets you understand it. whether its a heat exchanger, a pipeline, or the universe. u become really good at analysing things. better than any financial analyst who hasn't learnt that kind of science

Cheers, cos its a toss up between that and environmental engineering, whcih is similar, but its all about renewable energy ideas.

enviromental engineering used to be about waste water treatment, and life cycle analysis. we had to calculate if you pour so and so chemicals into the river, how much oxygen would it consume as the bacteria broke it down. to make sure the fish don't suffocate. it was a doddle compared to the real core chemical engineering modules. so make sure the course you do isn't easy. i mean make sure it has nuclear engineering and reactor designs. real calculations and modelling. if its just some shit about ideas and issues then it'd be a waste of money.

Its at Leeds, and its an AAB req, so i'm hoping it should be fairly challenging.

The prospectus states something about
You'll be exposed to the fundamental science underpinning a wide range of engineering concepts, including engineering science, engineering materials, mathematics, thermodynamics, safety, health and environment, design, process equipment and power. As well as specialist topics such as techniques used to reduce the environmental impact of industrial processes, energy production and transport, including the reduction of air pollution, and wider issues such as waste management, land contamination, water pollution and environmental law.
