I always judge people by their actions rather than words. Is it fair to say that negotiating deals with Juve and Inter, was evidence that he was looking to leave?
Maybe he'll learn from this then. He seems a bit regretful about it all anyway.

I don't hate Rafa, I'm grateful for all the great things he did, but I'm not up his arse either like some fans seem to be, he fucked himself up and I don't really give a merry fuck about the part the owners played, he could have played his role better.

I think we should just give krump a thread where he can post all of his photoshopped pics, cos they're awesome

This

it's quite clear that rafa's going to end his days as a wild-eyed bette davis-like character, rattling about his massive gothic mansion on the wirral, surrounded by montse and her watches, stopped at the time of his sacking, 2010.

I think Rafa might have lost the value of money somewhere, considering his tax return says he earned something close to 20 million quid in the last year for doing the best part of fuck all. He probably thinks a can of beans cost a hundred grand.

you make it sound like the entire time rafa was here he ran the club into the ground.
european cup
fa cup
another CL final
a CC final
later stages of the CL every season he was at the club with the exception of his final season.

I think rafa earned his pay off.

From Inter too? I don't think he earned much in his last year, never mind a massive signing off fee.

He did great for us, I'm not arguing that, but to imagine he's 'earned' more 8 figures in the past 12 months is fucking deranged.

who cares what happened at inter? I don't even LIKE inter.

I hate the hypocrisy of saying or implying that an individual shouldn't collect on the contract deals he or she has made, especially when it's terminated by mutual consent.

I bet there isn't one person on this site (or on any other) who would walk away from getting paid the agreed amount.

Fine line between success and failure, Benitez had both during his time.

No, not at all. The only thing that does irk me is when a player makes it public he wants out yet refuses to hand in a transfer request to get paid a loyalty bonus. Greed knowing know bounds that.

Its playing the system and in the most part I imagine they are advised and led by their agents/management (who obviously are totally in it for the money)

I think 'playing the system' is slightly euphemistic Richey. it's plain greed but yes probably instigated by agents. It amazes me sometimes how much these footy players believe they need to live a very very comfortable life.

I wish Rafa would stop commenting on LFC related things, we are not even his last club, talk about Inter.

Well that is what the agents are there for - to make as much money as possible for the players and, ultimately, for themselves!

Its like with any kind of advisor in business. They see the contracts, loopholes and schemes and exploit them. That is how so many people get away without paying high rates of tax. Of course its greedy but that's what people are like.

So where did Rafa say we sold him cheap? I must have missed that or is it yet another case of a journalist manipulating a headline to put forward a non-story.
Shame on Rafa, responding to a question in an interview. Despicable.
Dont you think its time for him to say i dont wish to comment on Liverpool, its not like he ducked questions when he did manage us. He has far too much to say since his departure.

Being entitled to a pay off is one thing, saying he earned it is ridiculous and not a position any fan of the club should really take

Can someone actually show me the point in the article where Rafa says "We sold Torres on the cheap". You see my English isn't that good anymore.

I think you're complicating the matter. Financial matters are done in the cold light of day, reviewing from the viewpoint of a fan after the fact is no position at all.

What was the purpose of the interview?
Lets ask the journalist about it and lets see if that was the whole interview.

wow, you really have a strange agenda.

He has earned no where near 20 mil in the last year and his pay off from Liverpool was very low as he found a new job very quickly, he was only ever entitled to up to 5 million based on how long he would be out of the game, as he got a job within weeks the payoff was minimal and probably less than a million

He also donated 100k to the Hillsborough Justice Campaign when he left, I see you forgot to mention this,,

I would say that he earned his salary, not his payyoff. Had he still been "earning" it, there would have been no need for a payoff - He'd still be here...

And based on what do you think his payoff was < $1m? It's been widely quoted as approx. $6+m everywhere I've read about it.

Rafa got 10 million Euros in 6 months....for being sacked.

He has to move on now, he's just embarrasing himself even more...
How many times has he said he wants the job again now? Jog on Rafa, FSG would never put up with your bullshit.
I'm glad that he still has affection for the club. He's been relatively low profile and I thinkk that's good. Better than if he had just quit with all the ownership problems and declared that we wants to manage at a bigger club.

He should take the Madrid job when it eventually comes up.

I want Dalglish until he's ready to retire, and I don't want that to be for a very very long time.
