WHAT THE FUCK!!!

[article=http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/1599726/paris-saint-germain-confirm-massive-200-million-euros-sponsorship-deal?cc=4716]Paris Saint-Germain have officially announced their sponsorship deal with the Qatar Tourism Authority which will net the Ligue 1 champions up to 200 million euros a year.

Mooted last season, the agreement was publicly confirmed on Tuesday making PSG the first club to be sponsored by a state.

Income from the deal, which will reportedly be retroactively paid back to 2012, is said to increase incrementally year-on-year through to a reported maximum of 200 million euros come 2016.

"Our association with the Qatar Tourism Authority allows us to give ourselves the means necessary for the development of the club in the direction that we envisage," PSG's CEO Jean-Claude Blanc said.

It clearly benefits the image, as well as the results, of the club. QTA's support enables us to offer our supporters a level of performance in keeping with their expectations and our ambitions."

The sum will significantly help offset PSG's annual budget, which this year totals 430 million euros, though the club will also have to provide details of the agreement to UEFA before European football's governing body takes it into account with regard to the club's obligations to meet Financial Fair Play regulations.

As part of the agreement, Laurent Blanc's squad will be able to use Qatar's high-performance ASPIRE centre for this year's winter training camp, the third successive year the French club will have travelled to the Gulf state during their winter break, to prepare for a high-profile friendly with Real Madrid in Doha on Jan. 2, which will launch the second half of their season.[/article]

If the Al-Thani family were our owners would we complain at such tactics?

We wouldn't be able to complain should we be punished by authorities for something illegal like this. It's likely close to a billion euros worth for 5 years (how the hell they can get away with it being paid back to 2012 is beyond me). Wonder how much PSG's second best offer for sponsorship was?

Yep, it's the way forward for any sugardaddy teams. They can sponsor themselves 500mill a week from 'dave's kebab shop' if they want. It's obviously a legally allowed way round the FFP. The guys owning these clubs can afford much better lawyers and accountants than UEFA and FIFA.

Al-Thani family won the right to host a world cup, despite the country having no infrastructure to accommodate a doubling of it's population. So FFP, uefa, FIFA are pointless notes on a contract. If I was an PSG fan I would be more worried when the family looses interest as they did with malaga.

so if the 75% tax for French footballers goes through PSG and Monaco won't give a shite because one can magic monster sponsorships out of their arse and the other doesn't do taxes. Financial fair play 👎

Hang on a minute. The Qataris are paying loads of mega bucks not in a brown envelope to senior FIFA or UEFA executive. What the fuck is going on?

God they'll be making homosexuality acceptable over there soon. What's th world coming too.

The numbers are bollocks actually. It was based on 60000 visitors and it seems to be 217000 instead. Still loads per visitor. Maybe the 60000 was the increase.

City did the same last season. It just confirms that FFP is all talk and no action at all.

If this sort of thing continues, I wonder if it'll have any affect on FSG's desire to stay in the game.

They've repeatedly stated that FFP was key to them buying Liverpool.

you honestly think they wouldn't have seen this coming?

FFP is a load of bollox, even if it had been successful it would have effectively locked the top clubs into a cartel that could never be broken. Its always been impossible to enforce because of the nature of the sponsorship deals involved. If Uefa outlawed this deal then you would see City and PSG playing in an Emirates tournament next summer with $200m for the winner and $199m for the runner up.

The only reasonable solution is a wage cap for all clubs in the Champions League, its been trialed in numerous other sports so there is no reason why it wouldnt work in football, other than the fact the players don't want it.
