It was reported in the media I think. Sturridge voiced his concern himself aswell but was told to train as normal.
In the following sprint session he pulled up.

He should just have told them to fuck off and trained lightly.

Yep, sturridge asked to sit out the session cos we don't have him training so soon after a match as part of his injury prevention.

Hodgson said no.

He then got injured during that training session.

Hodgson is a stupid fucking cunt. Even if he thought the player was taking the piss & trying to swerve training he should have called the clubs doctors or Rodgers to confirm.

Thankfully one difference is that whereas Owen was over-played from about 17 until he tore his hamstring, and even after that was still over-played, Sturridge has arguably been underplayed during the same stage in his development, so at least he's better placed physically to cope with the occasional setback.

England manager Roy Hodgson has risked a row with Liverpool after admitting he forced Daniel Sturridge to play against Germany last month – even though he was injured.

In a surprise admission, Hodgson made the comments just days after it was confirmed that Sturridge will miss the next eight weeks with an ankle injury.

But the former Reds manager defended the decision by insisting he did it in order to test Sturridge’s mental strength.

‘Dan has pulled out of a few matches with us for injury reasons,’ said Hodgson.

‘The first game he played for me against the Republic of Ireland he got injured. It was important for me to, if you like, test his resolve a little bit.

‘I might have been guilty of putting that resolve to the test but I don’t apologise for it.’

Hodgson went on to say that, even though he didn’t perform at his best because of the injury knock, he was still impressed with Sturridge’s contribution.

‘I am delighted he did get out there, even though he maybe didn’t feel 100 per cent, because that means in future I will know I can trust him as an England player.

‘He is not going to be playing when he feels like it, he is going to be playing when he’s fit to play.’
