Football News 24/7Former Liverpool star Andy Gray has revealed that he believes the idea of Luis Suarez moving to Real Madrid this summer is a distinct possibility, despite the fact that his club most certainly want to keep him.
In an interview with talkSPORT the ex-Reds striker turned broadcaster opined that the Uruguayan could well make the switch to the Bernabeu, as Madrid will want to secure the services of a world-class striker if they sell Karim Benzema, which many expect they will.
Rumours have persistently linked Liverpool’s star frontman with a transfer to the Spanish capital, and his incredible goal haul this campaign will have done little to deter Florentino Perez’s ambitions.
“They have had a brilliant season. They have surprised everyone. They won't surprise anyone next season. That will be one of the difficulties that they will have now. People will expect it and will they be able to keep everybody?” Gray pondered.
"It looks like they are going to strengthen. Maybe Adam Lallana will be the first one through the door and he would be a good signing, but how stronger would they be if they get Lallana and lose Suarez, which I think is still a distinct possibility this summer.
"If Madrid offload Benzema, which there is some talk of, then they will want a top bracket frontman. Well if you are talking top, top bracket, then Aguero, Suarez, Cavani, players like that are the ones they are going to look for and try and get in. So you would have to be worried that they might be tempted [to join Real]."
Though Suarez himself has offered no indication that he will be angling for a move away from Anfield this summer, there is serious doubts that he will remain loyal should Madrid have the chance to discuss personal terms with him. The barrier preventing them from doing so lies in the form of Liverpool’s stance that they will not be selling their top performer, but that may change should they receive a ridiculous offer.
