We didn't do enough simple as. First 15-29 mins of the 2nd half we were all over them and the goal had to come ... and then we went off to Butlins with our buckets and spades.

Their plan was to score a fluke? They set up with a back 10 and then went even deeper second half. They’re meant to be the best team in Europe and they shit themselves.
This seems like a coping mechanism.

They were looking very dangerous when it was 11 v 11.

When it went down to 10 men (and a pen), we really needed to win and knock their confidence.

This draw will have boosted their confidence and reduced ours.

Decent result but that 2nd half was abysmal, if we don't sign another forward then we'll finish 3rd/4th.

A real lack of penetration second half by us. Chelsea playing deep but we showed so little in breaking them down.
Would at least lick to have seen a few more shots from range as a few delfection and chance came from the resulting saves.

Feel as if we really missed Bobby's craft and what he brings in and around the box... Jota was poor today
No really game changers from the bench

They had the best chances of the game arguably. They scored, then sat back to counter. It's good play.

Even at 10 men they looked more likely to score

Really hard to break down a low block with 10 men defending. The only way you do that is if you either have a player who can beat a man off the dribble and disrupt the positioning of the defenders or you have a big back-to-goal no. 9 who you can consistently punt the ball to, and let him create havoc in the box.

We won't get the latter because that's not how we play. As for the former, Mane used to be able to be that player but he seems to be unable to do that anymore.

The solution to this lies in the transfer market, but it seems we're not going to do that.

Chelsea would've won that with eleven men, so you have to consider a point a good result really.
Easy to say but with 11 vs 11 Klopp would have switched it around at HT and we'd have had more space (as we did first half - when we coulda/shoulda have scored before the pen but for poor finishing). In the second there was zero space behind them in the penalty box and it was always going to come down to a lucky bounce, deflection, outrageous piece of skill.

Change formation to 4-1-2-1-2 with Keita on with Thaigo/Hendo in middle, and Elliot behind the front.

In hindsight, a draw is fair ... Think Chelsea are currently a better team than us -

A fresher, younger team and squad.

Now they have a manager on a similar level as ours.

United, when they sack Ole, could be in the same boat soon too.

we need a midfielder and a striker

jones/ox/elliott/keita/milner won't do
the ones next to fabs are not of the required quality, and I include Hendo in that
If he starts, the other one needs to offer more going forward, running and shots.

I'm less concerned about our midfield now, as Elliott has shown maturity beyond his years.

We definitely need a striker or someone to rotate with mane

I don't get the adulation for elliott
he is a talent, like jones, but not good enough to hold his own in a midfield three
offers very little defensively, and is just moving the ball further upfield

I think we need both

I think we'd have probably lost were it not for the red card. We all knew beforehand that Chelsea are really strong at the moment but we were at home and I think we needed to put on a better display than that even if we didn't get the win. We looked jaded and out of ideas.

As has been said, the solution lies in the transfer market but I worry we've let a few too many opportunities pass us by now.

Sorry mate but he's just gone and done what you suggest he can't do!

Chelsea have a class midfield, he definitely held his own. And didn't you notice him tracking back, putting in the effort and winning back the ball on numerous occasions?!

How many do we need in a midfield with Fabinho and Henderson? You need at least one player who looks forward.

I think you’re completely wrong. I can’t remember thinking they’re deffo scoring here. Hardly dangerous playing lump and run. Imagine their confidence playing 5 defenders plus kante and Jorginho against us. They’re scared of us.

Which is how you win at Anfield.
Neither won.

What chances? Ali didn’t save us at all today. Burnley has clearer cut chances.

I just call it as I see it, mate.
I don't think he is ready to start.
Same level as Jones for me.
