Pre Match - Big Sam's Big Baggies (A) - Sun - 16:30

I do have reservations about their second goal. Was he really interfering with play when its the pass before the goal? Its probably the first slice of luck we've had from VAR in a long time.

Also, can Carragher stop commenting on our games? Its cringeworthy and I can understand why rival fans turn against us when you hear his biased commentary.

He was right infront of Alisson, it was definetly the right call to disallow it.

Still recovering.

Thought we did OK overall, but pretty disappointed we didn't finish them off earlier.

Alisson. 11. Say no more.

Robbo - just not at his best. I thought that he must've been told to play conservatively, but even when it's very on, he's not getting forward, and his delivery has waned markedly. Lacking confidence 5

Rhys - did some decent stuff, but made me nervous. At fault for their goal 6

NVP - not his most assured but alongside Rhys withstood an aerial battering as we let them have far too many crossing opportunities in the 2nd half 7

Tta - I know he gets caught upfield a lot and that nearly cost us, but he's completely back to his best. Quick, great delivery and hes popping up everywhere. Also trusting his left foot more. Score that goal and he gets top marks. 9

Thiago - coming of age for us. Defensively solid, covering for Trent, and creatively starting to look the part, particularly in the 1st half. Fell away a bit in the 2nd when we really needed him though. 8

CJ - Holds onto the ball too long, and not taking any risks. Turning into a worse version of gini. Not taking his chances in the starting line up 5

Fabs - another rock solid game. Getting involved at both ends. 8

Mane - still not firing on all cylinders and its hurting us, but there's signs he's on his way back 6

Bobby - there have been times this season where he's really stopped us in our tracks, but he's an asset once more and linking play well. Really needs to score that though doesn't he? 7

Mo - constant threat, awesome finish. Working hard for the team. With the finishing of the others I don't even mind him being greedy from time to time, but he is passing way more now. 9

Shaq - I love Shaq and was glad to see him on, but another not taking his chances. No crucial bits of play and a couple of sloppy bits 5

Klopp - we should batter these teams, but he can't find a way through. Still some thinking to be done for him as to how to approach these games. We gift them too many easy outs as well. Subs didn't work really but is that his fault? 7
Robertson was incredible against ManU so don’t know where the low confidence point comes from. He was poor yesterday. I thought Fabinho was really substandard throughout.

Watch it again.

He's in his line of sight. Not right in front of him. He's a good few yards in front.

If the ball had gone straight in you could argue he was interfering. But the matter of the fact was, his header was going wide and bartley stuck it in. Therefore an assist.

I'd like to think if the shoe was on the other foot, we'd be complaining too.

It's still interferring with the goalkeeper, from AB's line of sight the ball is headed from slightly left, to where it's knocked in to the right, so it comes across their offside player with AB's view hindered.

It shouldn’t even be a debate. If you let that slide as “not interfering” offside goes from an absolute joke, to complete fucking farce

I don't think i've seen a more clear cut 'interfering with line of sight' than the disallowed goal incident. Barely even worth talking about - and it wasn't even a VAR call, the lino and ref both gave it and VAR looked and said within about 2 seconds 'yep'.

He doesn't have to be 'interfering' per se. Just obstructing the GK's view .. and he was literally directly in front of Ali.

I don't understand why Carra was adamant it should have stood, the offside player is clearly 100% interferring with play.

Proper weirdo these days Carragher. Still a Blue at heart imo. Be made up his son looks like joining them in the summer.

IFAB Law 12.2 – Offside

A player in an offside position at the moment the ball is played or touched* by a team-mate is only penalised on becoming involved in active play by:

interfering with play by playing or touching a ball passed or touched by a team-mate or

interfering with an opponent by:

preventing an opponent from playing or being able to play the ball by clearly obstructing the opponent’s line of vision

I'd still have been a little bit annoyed if it was us as the ball didn't go straight in.

You could argue that teams would do this all the time if it stood. But the law needs to be tightened up.

That all said. The amount of VAR calls which have gone against us this season. Fuck it.

On to Burnley.

Yeah but you're missing the point. Stood right in front of his view (it was ca. 3m) ... so he couldn't even attempt to go for the ball as his view was obstructed. Whether he would have or not is irrelevant (ditto most penalties given .. would they have scored)? There was no debate .. VAR chalked it off immediately, it wasn't even a drawn out decision, as them's the rules !

What a load of rubbish.

As for the disallowed goal, I love it because even if the player wasn’t there, zero chance Becker is saving it.

Three league wins in a row. Been a while.

Definitely the double save just before ... the only one I remember seeing come close was Gordon Bank's impossible save from Pele in the world cup.

For the quality of the save, yes, but the point of discussion at that stage was when something happened that made us as spectators go into orbit. The double save didn't do that for me (I barely realised what had happened TBH) - it was when The Dude batted Shevchenko's final effort away that I for one went totally apesh!t. 😀

I just noticed the advertisment (with the Biblical quote) in the stands seating as Alisson was running up the park, the ball ended up in net and Alisson on the turf
"The Lord is my Shepherd" ... He maketh me to lie down in green pastures. 🙂

Have a look at Nat when the players all pile on top of Alisson after the goal. They're all pretty chuffed but he takes the biscuit. 😀

I can't take my eyes off Salah in that celebration. First to pounce on Alisson

I can't remember the last time I've seen such unbridled joy from him. I don't even think he's that happy when he scores.

Haha well luckily we now have the luxury of hindsight.

hahahaha

the only thread which I did not visit was the Spurs one. Going through the other three made my day. I might be wrong but I have never seen so much abuse or desperation on SCM when opposition team wins 😀 anyways it was so damn fucking fun !
