Big games coming thick and fast. Atletico followed by West Ham away next week. We need some midfield returners for West Ham - hard to say what we'll do for Atletico without knowing the status of Fabinho, Thiago etc.

----------------Ali---------------
Trent--Matip--VVD--Robbo
---------------Fabs--------------
------Hendo------Jones-------
Salah-------Jota---------Mane. sadio & diogo have both been rested lately, time for Bobby or Mo next?

Win this and please please rest players in the next two CL games.

Agree with the team, and hopefully Fabinho will be fit.
Jota should come in for Firmino and Matip should return.

Thought we missed Matips calming presence against Brighton. Konate was a bit rash and didnt hold the line that good yesterday. You could see that they havent played that many games together.

I think that’ll be the team. I’d really like us to win and then make wholesale changes for the last two ties. We need to do what we can to knock Atletico out of the competition.

Just get through the next few games then an international break and hopefully we get a few midfielders back by then. Thiago may be kept back to stop him being called up by Spain.

Naby Keita is likely to be sidelined for Wednesday's Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid, confirmed Jürgen Klopp.

The Liverpool No.8 had to be withdrawn during the first half of Saturday’s 2-2 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion due to a hamstring injury.

Keita will undergo a scan on the issue to determine its severity, but Klopp does not anticipate the midfielder can be involved versus Atletico.

“He told me, he showed me [the] hamstring. So, I don’t know, we will see; obviously tomorrow [or] the day after tomorrow he will have a scan and then we will know,” the manager told Liverpoolfc.com post-match.

“But if somebody feels the hamstring, it would be the first time that he is ready for the next game. So, I can’t see that.”

Yep - we have 6 winnable games post international break, made easier by not playing key players in the CL.

Arsenal (H), Saints (H), Everton (A), Wolves (A), Villa (H), Newcastle (H) - a run that will make or break our season. Minimum 5 wins required in that lot.

I don't want to see Klopp experimenting with out backline any more. Yeah Konated did well against Man U, but we saw his inexperience against Brighton. In hindsight, Matip should have played.

Fuck our midfield.

Robertson was also all over the place when defending yesterday. The midfield combo that finished the game against Brighton should not be seen again.

Would it have been crazy to bring on Matip in the second half as a third defender and changing the line up to a 3-4-3?

Without prep, probably. It's something we should consider though, and something I thought we may've used early in the season with VVD coming back and Konate to be bedded in. It'd certainly help when TAA and Robbo go walkies.

The way Klopp was talking pre-Brighton I expect Thiago to be fit for this one - and it's the perfect game for him to return in for Jones. Fabs, Hendo & Thiago our starting midfield.

We can look at the midfield for West Ham after that.

If we had Fabinho, Henderson, Thiago and Jones/Ox available for the next 2 games that’s sound.

If we could shake hands with athletico right now on a 0-0 and forget the match I’d do it.

No injuries is the biggest think from the next match against a dirty team.

Is it time to talk about dropping Robbo? The Greek has as many assists in a handful games as Andy has had all of 2021?

Love the guy but Robbo has been poor for a while, he looks burnt out. Aside from lacking his usual attacking energy he's constantly playing opponents on by sitting 2m deeper than the rest of the backline.

He's going to go off and play 2 games for Scotland next week and return even more fried. I think we should start Tsimikas against AM

Should have him withdraw from the Scotland squad. That wont happen mind.

.... he's constantly playing opponents on by sitting 2m deeper than the rest of the backline...

Absolutely this!!!!

I don’t know what’s going on with him.

Mind you, he’s not the only one that’s out of form, to be fair.

It would be nice if we could rotate more for these games. We've got 9 points in 3 games, which generally guarantees qualification, and logically West Ham is the bigger priority, but the CL money per game means it's inevitable we'll start a strong eleven.

Fabinho simply has to start. He would do a better job even on crutches than all individuals accountable for that shit-show of a midfield performance against Brighton. Konate did not cover himself in glory for Brighton's goals either, so he could have no complaints if Matip came back in. Robertson looks gassed out, so Tsimikas should be considered.

-------------Alisson-------
Trent--Matip----VVD--Tsimikas
--------------Fabinho------------
------Hendo---------Jones------
-Salah-------Jota---------Mane---

Fabs plus any two of Hendo, Milner, Jones, Naby, Elliot, Ox is likely to work. But very rarely does a three without Fabs work as intended. I think this is now the biggest gap in our squad, and perhaps we need to manage Fabs' minutes especially in cup games.

Jota for Bobby he was awful against Brighton..

Origi or Mini for Salah.. (rest him for west ham)

Bobby should have been taken off much earlier and we then may have got something more out of the game..

Probably the worst I have ever seen him play in a red shirt.. Though the unbalanced midfield behind him may have had a factor in his case..

Midfield of Fabs, Thiago (if fit) and Hendo

Tsmikas for Robbo.. Id drop VVD.. with a backline of Gomez Matip

Zero chance Salah doesn’t play.

A draw is all that's needed to guarantee qualifiying, so if we can get that then we can rest a lot for the last 2 games.

Wonder what the ‘a bit more complex’ thing is with Fab ?not sure if it’s complex enough to keep him out a while. We really could do with him , I’m hoping..

Fabinho back in training today. Thing is, do we risk him? Need him for the West Ham game.
