I really hope Matip is fit for two reasons; one because he's fucking good and secondly because that Fabinho/Alcantara CM apex looked very sexy last week and it could develop into a Viera/Petit type of pairing in that they can be hugely effective with or without the ball.

Matip is a very good and component centre back. I actually prefer him to Gomez most of the time; but the reality is he can't be relied on to stay fit. I think we need to stick with the Gomez and Fabinho partnership for now and hope they strike up a good understanding fairly quickly.

The midfield 3 of Fab Hendo Thiago did look exciting at Everton and I'd love to see more of it, but we need Fabinho further back for the time being. Can't do the player any good either.

With the amount of games coming up, well actually for fucking months now we have game after game, I'm not sure what he'll do.

Personally I'm split on the decision myself.

Logic suggests that you play the outstanding keeper over the below average keeper, & injury risk isn't a factor because he is a keeper.

However, Allison does get injured more than most keepers it seems, we also have VVD out, which mentally is a huge loss.

That could mean you want Allison & the CB's to adjust to the new situation, but it could also mean you might have an eye on city & want the morale boost of having him back just before it.

Then you have the CB's themselves, I'd argue we don't & won't need Fabinho at CB for the next couple of games, & Klopp may well want Fabinho in midfield against City for obvious reasons.

In short, I honestly haven't a clue what he'll do.
