Who in your opinion shows intelligence on the pitch and who is the cleverest footballer you've ever seen playing?

I suppose Luis suarez reads the game as well as anyone I've seen

Part opportunist / part genius

Its definitely Suarez. He knows where the ball is going to end up before the other player even knows he's about to make a mistake

Dalglish

Hansen. Rarely saw him break sweat or dive into a tackle. He read the game so well. See the highlights of 5-0 v Everton for some great examples of his reading of the play. The first goal is all down to his reading of the game.

Too many athletes now. It's all about speed and strength a bit too much for me.

Suarez - He was ridiculously clever. With his movement and vision. In fact he still is 😉

Depends how one defines game intelligence really.

Big Didi was a master at drawing a foul when we under pressure and thus running down a clock and taking the sting out of the game etc.
You could maybe just call that being crafty, I don't know.

The answer to the question is very simple. Where there is a consistent consensus between pundits and players and managers of a specific players performance over say 2-3 seasons then we can safely say that that specific player has that game intelligence. So the actual list is very long. However i think that the list in the past few seasons has got shorter due to more emphasis on players physical strength and fitness.

You sound like Van Gaal

Pains me to say it but Paul Scholes was an extremely clever footballer. Strolled around the pitch effortlessly.

Yeah. It's basically a euphemism for "slow" in most cases.
