Just finished watching Inter v Sassualo, few standouts.

Sansone - Plays as a LW, is quick, has great ball control and loves to take his man on. He came across as a fighter, someone who is hungry for the ball. He kept hassling the Inter defenders and could be great in a Klopp type team.

Berardi - Scored the winner from the penalty spot to make it 0-1, he has an amazing left foot even though he plays RW, so much power and curve in his shots/crosses/free kicks. He is quick and also likes to take his man on, another thing I noticed was how the Sassualo players close down, similar to how Klopp likes to play.

Icardi - I think Icardi would be perfect for us, he's good in the air yet good with his feet. He comes across as a very smart forward constantly making great runs and he has some decent pace. He chases and chases from the front, another thing Klopp would love which is something our forwards don't really do. Loves the physical side also which would make him perfect for the premier league.

Ljajic - Has a great shot, loves to shoot, is tricky and his feints send defenders the wrong way. He has great speed, only thing I'm not sure about is his work ethic, didn't really seem like he wanted to defend and was caught offside a few too many times.

Special mention to the Sassualo GK (Consigli) who had an immense game and is the reason they didn't lose.

Berardi will be playing for Juve next year.
Icardi - I doubt we have a chance for him, but he seems like a class player.

Icardi really would be a step back towards a Suarez-type forward for us.

I'd love for us to blow the January cash on him.

Liverpool transfer rumours and news: £11m move for Alexandre Pato 'agreed'; Reds to bid £22.3m for Dennis Praet; Klopp ready to sell £25m Sturridge

Who has been linked with Liverpool today?

Liverpool have agreed an £11m move for Corinthians striker Alexandre Pato, according to reports.
Various reports from today have claimed that Corinthians have struck up an agreement with the Reds for the former AC Milan man.
It has been reported that the Brazilian Pato, 26, rejected a more lucrative contract from China to secure the transfer.
The Daily Star have reported that the player was persuaded into the move by countrymen Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino.

Elswhere, the Reds are set to make a £22.3m bid for Anderlecht midfielder Dennis Praet, according to reports.
Reports emerging from Belgium have claimed that Jurgen Klopp is interested in signing the 21-year-old. Praet has won one full cap for the Belgium national team.
Manager Klopp is reportedly considering the prospect of selling striker Daniel Sturridge.

The former Manchester City and Chelsea forward has played just 106 minutes of football under the German since he replaced Brendan Rodgers in October.
According to the Daily Mirror, Klopp has grown increasingly frustrated with Sturridge’s fitness problems and is contemplating selling him next summer.
Despite his recent issues, the England man would attract interest from across the continent and the Reds could command a fee in the region of £25m.

Should we have any interest in Kevin Volland if Hoffenheim gets relegated this season? They're currently propping up the table though only 6 points separate them and the 12th placed club (Augsburg, our EL opponents).

I've only seem him twice and that was for the German U21s in last year's Euro U21 championships. Pacy, plays in wide attacker or central striker positions, bulky upper body (think Aguero), powerful shot. I've not seen enough to start banging the drum, hence the question mark. At least he'll know Can and Firmino well enough though, and Dortmund's been linked to him since before Klopp announced his plans to leave.

One I think we should NOT be looking at, is Ter Stegen. I've seen him only about 4 times though I admit; I think a couple of times for German U21s in the same Euro tournament, and a couple of Barca games in the CL if I recall correctly. He doesn't inspire confidence in me at all - looks shaky and his position doesn't look great. I'm unsure that he's any better than Mignolet.

Then there's Davy Klaassen. Support this if you want a free like from @cloggypop - he's been pleading his case for a year or so now (use the search function). Arkadiusz Milik looks an interesting case as well - both are from Ajax.

I like what I've seen of Icardi BUT after Aquilani, Dossena, Borini and Balotelli I'm firmly in the No More Italians camp.

Klopp said "My private advice to you is don't follow the Pato path any longer".

So much for it being "agreed".

A player that I really hope Klopp is considering to go all-in for.

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, 20, CM, Bayern Munich

With Pep on his way out there may be some changes pending in the Bayern squad and perhaps some of the youngsters that have found it hard to claim a starting spot from the likes of Javi Martinez, Alonso, Alaba, Lahm, etc. etc. in their midfield could be lured away for decent money.

And this lad is simply going to be exceptional, even though some might think his progress has stagnated this Season after a rather poor loan-spell with Schalke. They'd be proved wrong, undoubtedly.

Not only is he strong as an ox - he's got thighs as large as tree trunks - and tall, he's also decently fast, splendid on the ball, set-piece specialist, aggressive, strong in tackle, a workhorse, capable of ghosting past opponents, a great passing range, winning mentality and a goal threat. He has got it all.

His biggest weakness so far has probably been his range of qualities that have seen him play everywhere from RB to AM over CM and DM. Not unlike when our very own Gerrard broke through and this is where the hyperbole really sets in, as he really does remind me of a young Gerrard - perhaps with a little less attacking threat but more defensive nous.

I honestly think that he can become one of the best midfielders in the game for years to come and I am also quite sure Liverpool-fans would love him almost the very instant he was to set foot on the Anfield turf, should that ever become a reality. He is a good sort.

Born in Denmark but half French (on his fathers side) so I might be a little biased, but even so, don't let that fool you to believe I am wrong in my assessment of this lad, because I am not. He has got everything in his locker that you can realistically hope for in a midfielder in the modern game of football.

Pierre-Emile Can
Højbjerg and a player like his former teammate at Bayern, Emre Can, could become a very intimidating and absolutely brilliant pairing in our midfield for years to come, we just need to move fast.
Here's what Højbjerg had to say about Can during the U21-finals last Summer: "He's a sublime footballer and there is nothing he can't do."

Anyways, Klopp knows all this. He does. I hope.

Est. Value: £15M - £30M (somewhere in between - no idea)

For the feinschmecker:

For the sensationalist:

I'm hearing a whisper we are taking Stephen Caulker on loan. He is still owned by Cardiff but been at Southampton although not been playing. This is coming from someone associated with the player, not the club.

Some decent stuff in those clips, but is he similar to Grujic whom we've just signed?
You know what I actually considered that myself - he might be. And if Grujic is every bit as good as some think to believe he is/will be, then you could argue that the need for a player like Højbjerg would be less urgent/clever.

I think the latter is more 'ready' however and as such there might be room for both, even if they are of similar sort. And one of them might pull a hamstring within hours of arrival too.
