PL Opposition Tidbits

I agree it's a concern but it might yet prove to be an aberration - all of the promoted teams stayed up in 2023 and that was the first time in absolutely years.

If they all go down again next season then yeah we need to be looking at possible interventions.

Of the clubs fighting for promotion its probably only Leeds that have a chance of staying up. Mainly because of their Red Bull affiliation.

That and possibly the fact that they have a few players with Prem experience this time around, but as it happens I know two or three Leeds fans and they all think they'll need to spend big to stay up.

Forest spent a ton and managed to avoid relegation and now fighting for top 4 in their 3rd season?

Doable it seems if you're willing to splash the cash

Why are you wasting your energy with this?
You're one Google search from discovering that it's all bull and he's actually engaged

Have you still not realised that BB believes everything he reads on the internet - my only surprise is he hasn’t suggested we sign her.

Arsenal spent 1,2 mill £ on their Dubai trip. Resulted in a Havertz season ending injury and a 1-0 loss at home to West Ham.

Good process, lads.

If remember correctly we also experienced a dip in form a couple of times after a mid-season warm weather trips under Klopp. Maybe it’s better to take them to the North Pole instead.

Remember that time we were 2-0 up away against Bournemouth at half time and ended up losing 4-3?
The players started thinking about the imminent trip to Dubai at half time and lost focus. They went straight to the airport after the game.

Yeah, but Arsenal also did it last year and when they got back they beat us & went on a bit of a run. They obviously hoped it would have the same effect this year

Is Man U the biggest club in England anymore?
Turnover, Titles, viewing figures, financials etc... They owe £300m in transfer fees and still have a £700m debt. Ratcliffe is doing the best impersonation for Musk by axing jobs so you'll have 1 person doing the job of 3 people

They're still the biggest and they've got the means to get back to the top, but they're a long way behind right now, and other teams like us and Arsenal have closed a lot of the underlying financial gap so they'll struggle to dominate again imo. If they do everything right they can probably win a title in 5 years or so, but when's the last time they did ANYTHING right, let alone everything?

Agree entirely and would add that they've got little margin for error, because IMO more than anything else their player recruitment has been a near-total disaster and they need to replace practically the whole squad. Hopefully, trying to do that and compete for trophies at the same time will be a nightmare for them.

Can you imagine if the Abu Dhabi group took over Utd instead? Cheating aside, they've been pretty savvy behind the scenes and employed all the right people.

Utd are all in with Amorim now... they've just got to hope he's the real deal.

Yeah they probably need to strip everything right back and look at next season as purely a platform for further transfers in 2026. Then use THAT squad to try and get back in the CL in 2027. Then maybe 2 more years of building with CL money to start challenging for the title.

The problem is it's just so hard to stick to that kind of austerity program in football. I doubt Amorim will survive long enough to even properly implement his 343, let along build it up to a title-challenging standard.

The icing on the cake would be if something drastic happened to OT - maybe part of it can fall down in the next storm and have the council force it to be closed down for safety reasons. Let's really turn the screw on them.
