I'm still disgusted by his United comments, but we're hardly in a position to tell him to fuck off.

He's too good and I'm sure I'll like him soon again -but I'm left confused as to why he felt the the need to tarnish his impeccable relationship with the fans.

Same here. All I've been able to come up with is that maybe it was a ham-handed attempt to squeeze something out of the club, whether that be some kind of commitment to make more big signings or simply better contract terms, or both.

He was never close to leaving ... Either it's lost in translation (as Rafa hints to) or he just didn't put enough emphasis on the 'no'

Once Rafa, always Rafa

United have bought the young keeper De Gea so unless Arsene breaks the habit of a lifetime, he'll be signing that bumper deal and staying put.

Might have just been shaking offers from the trees with his comments. Maybe none of interest came and Now it's time to decide?

So as soon as there are reports the United spot is taken, Pepe wishes to stay with us.

Charming.

You may have a point here, but if he commits his future to us, I won't mind.
Stevie was twice on the verge of leaving, and nobody remembers this now.

I'd agree. He was whoring himself out on this one, trying to secure the move. It didn't work out and he'll get a decent pay rise as a result.

i still love the man...

he has done more rights than wrongs and we cant expect everyone to die for the Liverpool cause. Football has changed so much in the last decade and why would one of the best keepers in the world want to stick around with 2 yank twats and Roy at the helm?

if he still wants to leave with Dalglish in charge ill be disapointed..however, it will simply highlight that our history is still not enough to keep players loyal during shite times.

Reina: Kenny just like Guardiola
19th Apr 2011
Pepe Reina has compared Kenny Dalglish to Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola and believes the team have improved a great deal since our former No.7 returned as manager.

The Reds' stopper was a teammate of the Catalans' coach during their days at the Nou Camp and has watched from afar as he has made a spectacular transition from the pitch to the dugout.

Guardiola has attained legendary status as both a player and manager in Spain and our No.25 is well aware of the similarities with Dalglish.

"Guardiola is a bit younger than him of course," Reina joked as he spoke exclusively to LFC Weekly this week.

"But they have very similar backgrounds - icons as players and great managers as well. It is important that he [Dalglish] knows the club.

"He's a legend in Liverpool - and I mean a legend because sometimes that word is used too much for other people. Kenny knows exactly what the people (of the city) think and what the supporters want to see.

"Because he was a great player himself, he understands the point of view of a player and that means he knows how to set standards and what is acceptable. He makes everything much easier for us."

That relationship with the players has been a major catalyst in Liverpool's upturn in fortunes after Dalglish took the helm back in January.

Reina added: "We have improved since Kenny became manager. We have beaten the big teams. But it is important as players to repeat that in every game. We need to be consistent...with the aggression, commitment...everything.

"We cannot just perform against the top sides because a season is 10 months long. If we get the balance right, we'll be a lot, lot closer to where we want to be. We started this season and the last one not the best. Next time, we need to make sure that doesn't happen."
