I don't really get the Ox thing. I'm hoping I've missed something in his development over the last couple of seasons given I've not seen a great deal of him.

As things stand, I don't get what he offers beyond "decent squaddie". And sure, we need more of those, but for the figures being talked about you really expect more even in this market.

I haven't watched much of him so I don't know what to make of him - other than he sounds ridiculously overpriced.

Is it possible Arsenal's style of play doesn't bring the best out of him and he'd be a better player in a quick counterattacking side ?

40 million with one year left on his contract is insane. What's Can worth then today? 60 million? He's a better player than Ox.

And yet WBA got Gibbs, a player of equal ability to OC, for £5 million. He is not worth the money.

Bit OTT to compare Gibbs to The Ox (😉) - whilst I agree, and have done throughout the thread that he doesn't feel like he should be a priority signing for that position, I have seen potential in him over the years. Maybe he can work in our system - but I don't hugely advocate this signing if it is instead of a proper first team quality player like Lemar.

Gibbs is shite though.

Just turned 24. As soon as he learns to play in our system he's going to be great.

Want more of this from him:

Fwiw, I don't think he'll be a bad signing. He'll cover for Lallana while he's out, and back-up Mane/Salah later.

I think Klopp will improve him a bit too.

I'd expect about 7-8 goals and and a similar figure for assists as well.

If he does all that as a squaddie for the next 4-5 years, then he'd have been a solid signing.

For £40 million and £180,000 a week?

I mean , I wasn't fussed about losing coutinho if Lemar came but now it's the ox , I'd be gutted if we lost coutinho

So yesterday's high of signing Lemar has now subsided to us getting Ox. Never change Liverpool FC.

You've gone and made Rosco google again!

She was the Andy Carroll of her day. Hence the first name. And the short footballing career.
