Speaking to the media after joining up with the France U21s, Rennes’s teenage attacking starlet Ousmane Dembélé moved to quash speculation that he was set to join Bayern Munich.

“I do not take notice of what is being written in the newspapers. I am still at Rennes for another three years, I am calm. I have not signed anything at all, I have not met with anyone. [Bayern] is a big club, one of the four biggest in the world. But there has not been a single discussion with Bayern.”

Wednesday started off with news from Bild that Dembele has finally reached a decision about his future, and rather than moving to one of his possible Premier League suitors, the teenage forward has opted to Borussia Dortmund.

The names of Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City were all present in Bild’s article as clubs who are chasing Dembele, but, who by their understanding, had lost out in the race for the teenager’s signature.

Bild announced that Borussia Dortmund have agreed a €5m deal to sign the 18-year old this summer from Rennes.

Dembele has scored 12 goals and notched 5 assists in 24 games for Rennes in his debut season in Ligue 1.

So there really is just one question to ask: was Bild’s report true?

French website Foot Mercato have gone to the source, Demeble’s agent Badou Sambague, who has flatly denied that a deal with Dortmund is done:

I categorically deny any agreement with Borussia Dortmund or anyone else… There is no agreement between Ousmane and another club for next season.

Ousmane will end the season (at Rennes)… The journalists are doing their job, everyone is doing their jobs.

But there is no agreement in place between Ousmane and any club for next season.

With Gundogan on his way out to Man City, Dembele would be a top replacement.

Thought Dembele was a striker? In which case it looks Aubamayang will be off in the summer and his replacement is Dembele

Dortmund have been linked to Lukaku. I dont think they'll get Dembele.
