Lovren, if he doesn't get poached to spanish bastards in a couple of years. Hendo isn't captain material for me, a good lad, hard worker, lead by example sort like gerrard, but not a leader of men. Some times they need a bollocking and a lift, not just to watch someone who's doing what's expected.

Hendo's captained England at a couple of levels. He's a good choice for the role, but then so is Lovren. I wouldn't mind either.

We saw how much he was missed in the run-in last season. He'll surely play as many games as anyone.

Hendo is constantly ordering players about and organising the people around him. He's easily captain material, and Mors is wrong to say he merely leads by example. That said Lovren seems a born leader too.

Henderson. He already is captain on the field the majority of the time.

His influence on other players is immense, when you go the game you see how much the fucker runs about passing messages to players, explaining formations & bollocking the cunts who aren't doing what they should.

I was undecided about Hendo but after seeing what Mors has to say I'm more convinced than ever he'd be great. Only problem is he might not always play.

I'm a bit gutted about this gene, that you don't agree with me, so I've reconsidered my opinion and decided you're right instead.
Prat.

Hendo for me. Fantastic player, great attitude, one of the first names on the sheet regardless of opponent. Drives forward, tracks back, never stops running and never stops talking.

Too early to call on Lovren, if he turns into a commanding Carragher style CB then I think he would be the natural choice but for now Henderson is way ahead of him in terms of his standing at the club, the kid has shown tremendous heart to battle back from being left out on the kerb for pickup to being one of the first names on the teamsheet

Henderson just found his balls, he ain't no captain.
I'd rather have Emre Can as our captain. Now that guy doesn't take shit from anyone.

Henderson is massively overrated in Liverpool circles, he needs to add goals/assists to his game before he becomes the player everybody thinks he already is.

Bit like Wilshere with Arsenal.

Slightly odd comparison. Wilshere's a crock and a pussy, and his game is based on finesse.

Henderson's one of the fittest players in the league, and his game is based on pressing, energy, and fearlessness.

He does get overrated on here (highly committed players always tend to), but he's still a very good young player.

Having said that, I don't think he's captain material yet. He's too much of a pup at the moment.

A captain for me should be someone who has calm control over the either the entire defence (Hyypia) or midfield (McAllister); or someone who is pure inspiration (Gerrard, Suarez).

I can't see Henderson being the former, and I suspect he doesn't have the talent to be the latter.

The comparison ends in that they're both extremely overrated by their individual fan bases. Nothing more than that.

It will be at least 1 or 2 more years before the change will be made. Plenty of time to grow into the role. The question wasnt who should get it if the armband was handed over tomorrow, in which case Lovren, who has played zero competitive games for us would be an equally inappropriate selection.

Henderson is the front runner for now but new leaders will emerge this season. Coutinho and Sterling despite his age in with a shout.

Tbf the only viable but maybe short term candidate for captain is Skrtel. The rest are either too young, inexperienced or haven't been at the club long enough.
Lucas or Agger are the other options but their future at the club is not that certain.

That twat Ince was given the captaincy straight away, wasn't he? There isn't any real problem giving the captaincy to a new player. So long as he isn't Ince.

Oh yeah. That was strange but it doesn't surprise that a nice fella like Evans picked him. I mean considering the whole Spice boys thing they had going on.

After a quick google I see that Shankly made Ron Yeats captain as soon as he signed. That was a good statement and has a certain resonance for today.
