I thought Spurs showed extra motivation, probably due to last seasons disappointment in this fixture.

Watching though, I have to say neither team were particularly creative or imposing.

I see no reason why we should fear either.

Well it was good to see someone elses player beeing mocked for a change. Normally I see a lot of praise for all but the Liverpool players.... That are either too slow, to flbbay, too incnsistent, too poor etc.

I've never mocked or denigrated Dele Alli, because it's always been perfectly obvious that he's a fucking fantastic player.

That Erickson to Alli thing is a bit good. I mean both times I was wondering what the Chelsea defence was up to but really he stuck it straight into his path both times.

I don't know if Chelsea had an off night or if that's the first time they've played a decent team in form since us.

Probably a bit of both. When Spurs are at it, they're a very hard team to play against, as evidenced by the fact they've only lost twice, and have conceded only 14 goals.

And Chelsea have been on an incredible run, so it was always more likely than not to end eventually. As for their defence, when you have three CBs and they split to cover wide positions, it can sometimes leave you actually short in the middle. In one case literally and numerically, as Azpilicueta is very short for a player at CB, and he had no chance against Delle Alli in the air for the first goal.

Wanyama was awesome last night, he out-battled Kante (which takes some doing) and his tenacity (helped by Dembele) freed Alli and Eriksen of most of their defensive duties.

Remember last week when Alli 'wouldn't get in our team', haha. As if he wouldn't be the first name on the sheet. Him and Kane.

Tough league this year, we've been brilliant but there's just no breathing space.
He hasn't been that great this season in fairness just has hit a purple patch.

2 goals in each of his last 3 games

I'm sure the rest of the top 6 said the same watching our game against City

They played City away since then

He was excellent. I wanted us to sign him when he left Celtic for 12 mill £.
We could have had him in the squad these last few years instead of Lucas etc.

There are more players in this Spurs side I'd want for us than in any other team in the league. I believe they are at least as big a threat for the title as Chelsea.

Lloris, more or less all of their back four (Alderweireld/Matip would be a boss partnership), Wanyama, Dembele, Alli, Eriksen and Kane. Not saying they'd all start week in week out but they'd all improve us.

This is very unlike Spurs..

Lloris, Alderweireld and Rose from their back five would improve us. And I'd take the attacking players you listed.

If you ask their fans I'd reckon they'd take quite a few of our players aswell.

They will fuck it up come the Europe games, their Squad just ain't big enough.. One or two injuries they will just be spurs again..

We play Chelsea on 31st January. I think the plan should probably be that we go 8-3 up then put on the recalled Flanagan who will then kick Costa to death on the pitch just as it's too late for them to buy a replacement.

If Senegal go out of the group stages, Mane could be back a week before the Chelsea game. Lets hope Senegal are shite.

I don't expect Spurs to invest very much energy in the Europa league at all. I expect to see a 2nd string side.

I think (or is it hope?) they will take it as seriously as we did, but I suppose it does depend on how the rest of the Premiership campaign goes.

I hope you're right, but Klopp was under no illusions that we had fuck all chance of making an impression in the league and prioritised cup competitions in a way that isn't usual. Pochettino treated this competition with disdain in previous seasons and with the league wide open I'd be surprised if he doesn't do the same again.

Actually I expect quite the contrary, with every single bookie United and Spurs are the Top 2 favourites to win the EL and gain automatic entry to the group stage of the CL. Both of them will go for it.

But the way I see it is it's not the bookies that set the odds really it's how much the punters bet that determines that - so the two English clubs particularly United will attract a lot of bets - it's like fans voting [emoji15]
