Watching Zidane's debut match as the manager of Real Madrid against Luis Alberto's Deportivo. As much as I dislike Real as a club, I can't root against Zizou, who is one of my favorite 3 players of all time. Seeing him in the dugout reminds me of one of the great Real teams of the turn of the century and on this showing it looks like he might be bringing the glory days back. A perfect 5:0 demolition with Bale hat-trick. What's even more impressive, Deportivo were playing quite well and they have joint-best defense in the league with Barca, but they just couldn't stop this visibly reinvigorated Real team.
LAR played at times as a false nine and later as #10. I liked what I saw, he's certainly a very intelligent passer and mover. If he belonged to another team, I wouldn't necessarily be begging for us to sign him; frankly he doesn't look quite cut out for Klopp's high-speed high-energy game. But he has already matured into a good player, clearly, and he'll make his mark in Spain.
