Apparently Rooney is heading back there this summer too. Not so arsed about that one.

I'm not so sure. If he's playing in midfield & the manager doesn't insist on playing him week in week out he'll strengthen their squad.

You think? I thought he looked log in midfield.

They're definitely strengthening their squad, but their whole team is set up for Lukaku, and he's getting off. They're also set to lose quality and potential (albeit inconsistently) in Barkley.

I think they'll be around 7th again.

When he was first tried in midfield I'd have agreed with you, but he's improved over time. He doesn't offer as much goal threat, but his distribution, positioning & tackling have all improved dramatically.

I've not looked into the stats, that's just my impression watching them last season, so I fully expect someone to prove me wrong with stats shortly!

Yep, despite the fact most on here seem to be disparaging about them, I'm genuinely concerned. They're building a very, very good side there.

Hmm,

Pickford is decent
Klaassen looks pretty good
No idea about this forward ramirez
Keane -im not convinced, the defence had so much cover and assistance at Burnley hes had a few iffy moments in the england games hes had - im sure he will be a solid signing....

You're also replacing probably half of the starting eleven by the time the season kicks off, Lukaku was also phenomenal last season, you cannot underestimate the impact of him going will have.

Klaassen 25
Keane 25
Ramirez 5
henry whats his name from belgium for 6m or so

Pickford, Keane, Klaassen, Ramirez. As others have said, strengthening their squad but not improving their first team if Barkley and Lukaku are leaving.
Wont break into the top 6 imho.

They're going to have to replace Lukaku's goals and, while they're signing good players, I'm not convinced yet that they're buying enough goals in the process.

That said, Koeman is their best manager in a generation and could yet make them challengers for a European place. Too soon to tell IMO.

There's rumours doing the rounds that Koeman has got his mind set on Nicolaj Jørgensen from Feyenoord (£15M), and whilst he had a good season indeed he's nowhere near Lukaku's class so they'd have to change their style quite a bit to replace his goals..

Sometimes the sum of the parts exceeds expectations but if they indeed are going to say farewell to both Lukaku and Barkley this Summer they will find themselves in times of trouble, is my guess. Well knowing that they do have got quite some decent looking youngsters in the squad as well (Lookman/Davies etc.).

Koeman as I see him is a 'builder' (like Klopp)- and as in the opposite of a manager like Mourinho who's more of an assembler - and that could play into Everton's favour, even if they do sell their stars, he might be able to buy the right players to consolidate the team as a unit. I dunno, it'll be a struggle..

By contrast I know one Birmingham fan who was concerned they might end up with him and is chuffed to monkeys they've palmed him off on the Villa.

If I were Southampton I'd have an intern produce one like the Salah announcement but instead of scrolling Twitter, record someone's hand scrolling through the SCM Vandijkulous thread and then there pops Van Dijk's face mouthing the words "VANDIJKULOUS! I'M STAYING".

It might have been interesting if anyone knew who the fuck Pellegrini was.

They've signed Manuel Pellegrini to play?

He was actually one of Sassuolo's star players over the past 2 seasons. Graduated from Roma's academy so no stranger to their fans either.

If the new signings can blend in fast enough, Serie A will be much more interesting this season.

Taking into consideration the money spent on Schneiderlin (£22 million) and Bolasie (£25 million), surely Koeman is expected to have them challenging for CL qualification?

It'll all be recouped by the sales of Lukaku and Barkley. All pretty average signings tbf
