Other clubs helping our top 4 chances next season

Have to say the other top teams could be helping us for next season with their decisions.

Spurs - Surely Bale, Modric, maybe VDV will leave now and a new manager could be a massive fail

chavs - RDM and his success in the cups means nothing for next season. He is a failed manager at West Brom what makes him so good now. When he has a whole season and transfers to make he will struggle.

Arsenal - RVP is surely going to leave and this will screw them up. Podolski is well over rated IMO

So if we assume City and UTD will spend huge and still be better than us and Geordies are one season wonders we could be right back up there in the top 3.

See - easy if you are optimistic

Chelsea look like the ones 'Getting it right' to be fair.

They already had
Cech
Cole
Terry
Cahill
Ivanovic

Mikel/Essien
Lampard/Meireles/Ramires

Now they have added this to their forward line:

Marin ---------------------------- Mata--------------------------------- Hazard
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------Torres ------------------------------------------

Thats a GREAT front line.

-------------------------------------------------------Cech------------------------------------------------------
Ivanovic-------------------------Terry-------------------------------Luiz------------------------------Cole
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------Mikel----------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------Ramires-------------------------Marin---------------------------------------
--------Mata-----------------------------------------------------------------------------Hazard---------------
---------------------------------------------------Torres---------------------------------------------------------

Bench - Lampard, Cahill, Essien, Sturridge etc

Quite, you don't need to be an experience manager to get something good out of that lot. The only downfall I see is there a bit too reliant on Fernando Torres coming good. They still need another striker to challenge City and United for the title.

Listen, forget all the other teams we need to worry about ourselves. We do this when we play teams, looking at how to stop them, fuck that shite make them work on stopping us.

The same teams fucked well up last season, and we should have made it to 3rd if we played to better standards. The CL place were up for grabs, but most teams bottled it.

Our chances improve significantly only if we bring in the right players. At the minute, its neither here or there and Chelsea are definately beefing up for a scrap. 4th place is achievable but we'll have to hit all the right notes from the off.

We just need to be consistent, worry about the big teams when we have to play them, concentrate on becoming a good side again that can beat 90% of the league.

We should worry about the small teams because they regularly turn us over. Our record against the big teams is pretty solid.

Consistency at Anfield and confidence on the road is the key.

pinning your hopes on Torres is a risky game for the chavs

My mate says Fletcher is fucked for UTD so expect them to buy top CM

That was my point really Roland, we need to focus on becoming a 'consistent' side again, which means being able to beat relegation fodder for a start.

Other clubs are no help unless we help ourselves. We were given the chance after January last season and we failed to grasp it with grateful hands!!!

so Van Persie is going, Di Matteo will be shit I know it and Villas Boas could be a disaster. Spurs will lose Modric and don't have any decent strikers.

Lads surely we have an outside chance of top 3 here.

Anyone with me ????

Cech is shit!

Too much writing off in this thread. We just have the hope that RVP leaves and it fucks up Arsenal and that Tottenham lose VdV and Mordic and don't replace them with good players, although getting Sigurdsson is a great start from them.

Agree in principle. What worries me a bit in practice is that some of us were saying much the same thing this time last year. However, we've got a new management and coaching team in place, and IMO our squad is capable of better even before any new signings arrive, so here's hoping.

Chelsea will be an unknown quantity. It could go well for Di matteo. Sturridge could excel without Drogba in his way, torres despite not being on form scores goals at important times & just managed his most successful season which will boost his confidence.

Arsenal will be there or thereabouts, to write them off simply cos rvp is gone is daft.

Spurs will be spending money. AVB is a gamble, but their dressing room is much younger & their team suits his style, so it's feasible he could kick on there, plus spurs always spend cash money & levy will back him (as an aside, I suspect he's gonna sell up soon, & is making it an attractive investment).

We need to worry about us, not them. If we win enough games what everyone else does won't matter a jot. Get our own house in order, stop panicking about other people or relying on them to fuck up.

It is loser mentality to worry about our rivals.

Do you think slur Alex was shitting himself when city signed aguero, doubt it.

He saw it as a challenge and **nearly** rose to the occasion.

If we convert some of our draws to win we will be closer to the top

We had one of these threads last year (and probably every year before that). The top clubs very rarely fall apart. Sadly we are the most notable example.

We have to focus on getting better players into our first eleven. That's the only chance we have of getting back into top four. Relying on other clubs to give us a helping hand is just pointless. As pointless as those "if we just win 9 points out of the next 12 we can be right back in the mix" threads!

The problem isnt that we drop points from the top teams too much, its our record against teams that we should beat. They get a lot more men behind the ball and we lack the creativity to consistently beat them. Time and time again last season we controlled the game for the most part to ultimately draw/lose. Thats where the other teams we try to compete against beat us. If we dont sign top players then we will be lucky to get 6th

Quite, I'd like to see us look at becoming a team again, less emphasis on the squad and more on continuity which will hopefully breed the cohesion and understanding we've lacked in recent years. With quality additions obv.

In all honesty, I think the very fact that we see other teams decreasing in quality as a spur-on for us, shows how desperate we've become. Depending on other teams to fuck up is just wrong. We need to start winning more games.

I'm not particularly fond of threads like these as we should focus on ourselves, but Arsenal and Spurs will be weaker next year. Arsenal have lost 40% of their goals and replaced RVP with two players who have 1 good goalscoring season between them. Who knows how that will work out.

Spurs will lose Modric and VDV and possibly replace Adebayor with someone else.

But, it counts for shite as we were 8th last season. We need look at ourselves and improve.

At various points last seasons, the other top 4 challengers, such as the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham 'went into trouble' in one way or another and that got our optimism up a little every now and then. Alas, our own failings cost us and we dropped further and further.

Agree with the common view that its what we do that counts, ultimately.

I think I am going to start a thread where I look at a run of five or six relatively easy premiership games for us and speculate how many points we will achieve in them.
