Is there a way back for him? I always kind of liked him, for a small period he looked unplayable, dominating defenses, scoring good goals, holding up the ball, pace, power. He had everything.

I don't know what happened with his loan move, but by all accounts he's not quite been the same mentally since that bad injury against Everton.

The pros are he has such raw ability that can be a real threat, the cons are that he looks like his confidence is ridiculously brittle. I'm rooting for him anyway.

Klopp:

On Origi’s moment after the injury he sustained during the derby in 2016…

I said it to him on the pitch actually. I had it in my mind and never forgot it. Fouls happen, harsh tackles happen and in his case it was so obvious it was a break in his development because at that time he was outstanding. After that he needed a long time before he felt absolutely nothing. For the Europa League final he was somehow ready but not completely pain-free, and there was a tournament [Euro 2016] and he couldn’t really show up there. That all changed a little bit, you lose confidence… at that time when Div played, he was an unbelievable threat: speed, physically strong, I remember the Dortmund game and stuff like that. So it was always in my mind when I thought about Div, that night. Coming on tonight, now he can finish that book and from now on everything will be fine again.

Nope he is too inconsistent. I hope he is more consistent, as that would mean we could command a much higher fee for him.

His record for us isn't had, for a young player who hasn't always been a first choice. 1 goal in 4 appearances (21 in 78, many of which were sub appearances).

I always believe a player can come back. The significant thing about Origi, as Mark notes, is that he's already shown he's got the talent, and he looked really promising for a spell before his injury, so he has something to come back TO, in terms of form. It's been a hell of a long time, but let's see.

Its great timing coming into a period of so many games. Would love to see him start performing again. Down to earth guy who appears to knuckle down and work hard.

He's putting himself in the shop window for January. Fair play to him for grabbing the winner, just don't see a future here at all. He won't make out bench when everyone is fit and back.

He has pace and power like. He had another great moment when he skipped away from the defender and played a really lovely weighted pass towards Mane in the box that the defender managed to scoop away.

We have three strikers who are literally ‘back up’. They offer so little to us, with very obvious fleeting examples like today, that they are little more than old fashioned reserves and I’m sure that’s not where they see their careers.

Brewster should be the one chomping at the bit, not this trio of mediocrity and we need to stop funding.

I mean what the fuck is Dom to us apart from somebody who costs wages and stops progress of youngsters? We’ll sell him for a small profit, minus the massive wages we’ve invested, and this whole sorry pantomime will continue.

Just buy Werner and stop this fucking about with neverwills.

No qualms with him making himself useful, especially since bobby has decided to be shite

Ultimately we dont really have a starting level striker alternative to Firmino. I dont mind Sturridge or Origi as subs but neither fill me with confidence if we give Bobby a break.

Couldn't we use Shaq as part of a front 3 if necessary?

Sorry totally disagree with the notion that Firminio is so good he cannot be replaced. Before Divok got that injury - he was our most promising front man that injury as a massive setback for the kid. I thought just for the few minutes he was on - at least three things happened where he is critical - that run and pass to Mane, hitting the woodwork, and then scoring that goal. I think the current policy of playing Firminio until he finds some form is going on a bit too long and don't see why we just don't take a chance with Divok for the next two games - and perhaps bring on Firminio later on.

Klopp had him on the bench because Hendo was suspended, Ox is still recovering and Lallana isn't match fit. So it's hard for to see Origi making a comeback or settling for a bench role.

Somethings got to give, Firmino has been stinking the place out with alarming regularity this season. He looks like hes played 50 games this season rather than 15.

We need a viable alternative and right now Im not sure what that is. But there probably hasnt been a better time in the last 6 months for Origi to come back and grab a goal. Plenty of games in the next 4 weeks, Sturridge can only be used sparingly and Firmino really needs benching for a bit.

The issue with that is that we have lost any aerial threat. Mitrovic has 6 headed goals all by himself (PL high) but I can't remember one goal this season from Mane, Salah or Shaq, none of whom can truly contend with CBs for crosses (not that we've made many decent crosses of late, TAA has been utter shite in that regard and Robbo is better at the low cross behind the defence when we are playing on the break).

That's the one thing that Studge, Dom, Origi and Firmino can offer. If we are playing this more mature style, with less pressing and breaking, we need to improve our aerial threat.
