This is a thread to kick start the 'Alberto In The Hole' bandwagon. I'm not a fan of Moses in the central position at all. It doesn't play to his strengths and he's better out wide.

Is there any chance Rogers will give Alberto at start at home tomorrow? He could be our Diet Coutinho.

I reckon he will play Allen there.
I think I would as well

I'd rather Allen there than Moses too actually. I like Moses but he isn't a #10 ala Coutinho. Not sure if Allen is either so I want Alberto to get a chance.

I'm a big Allen fan too. Glad to see him back.

Alberto should be 2nd choice in that position.

He has the passing range and ability to ghost in to space

And a striker of a peg

I've been firmly in place in the Alberto is boss camp for ages too mate.

Just giving the bandwagon it's own thread.
.... Fine. But me you and Modo are holding the reigns

Most of these cunts have yet to denounce the "Alberto is shite" wagon

It will be Allen definitely ahead of Alberto. I've seen nothing from Alberto that says he deserves a start.

Totally in on this. Other teams around the top bring in youngesters to play in their correct positions when their starters get injured instead of trying to butcher other fringe players. It keeps the balance of the rest of the team. Alberto was bought to play this role, he needs to start if we play this formation!

I have absolutely no idea how Alberto will fare. I have not been against the signing just because I knew nothing of him on the other hand I thought it was a rather expensive bet if he had to develop loads before being deemed ready for the first team, seeing as we are so slim in that department.

I am still very much on the fence with him, he looks to have some skill, he also looks extremely slow and even awkward from the little I have seen. Surely not convinced yet but as he hasn't been given much of a chance yet I will hope for the best.

As we desperately lack players that can actually maintain possession he should be given a go, from what little I have read/seen so far, he certainly looks to be more secure on the ball than the more direct Moses. Allen could also be an option I am just worried about his blatant lack of goals and assists in his career so far. Not exactly the AM type from that point of view so far.

Imo Rodgers is playing Moses there over Alberto because of pace and a desire to shoehorn him as another tricky goalscoring danger man into the side. But given how shite Moses has been there anyone is preferable, Henderson, Alberto or Allen.

I hope we go back to 2 centre halves also.

You've overlooked something important. When we actually had Coutinho fit and playing better than anyone else in the country, we didn't play this formation and he never got to be a proper number 10. The moment, I mean the fucking moment he got injured, that is of course when we fucking decided to play Victor fucking Moses as a 10. It's completely laughable.

Make no mistake, by the Arsenal game when he returns, Coutinho will be on the left. That's how this club rolls.

Playing a 3-5-2 means there's no place for Moses.

I actually feel sorry for him, he's a good player, and would excel on the left in a 4-2-3-1 or similar (and looked great against Swansea there) but he's not a wing-back, a striker, or as we've seen recently - a number 10.

If we fuck this 3-5-2 off, he'll be back on the left and playing well.

Yep, we aren't playing to his strengths at all at the moment. He's very good out wide and I don't understand why Rodgers is playing him in the hole. He runs into trouble from a central position and is guilty of breaking down our attacks a lot of the time. His decision making on the ball isn't the best. He is explosive though and I do like him but i'll be a lot happier watching him on the wing.

I don't see it with Alberto at all but hope I'm wrong.

Moses is a winger and a winger only.

Hopefully we move back to 4-2-3-1 now.

I'm baffled how you can't see what Alberto brings.

He's incredibly composed on the ball for his age, so much so that he is perfectly happy to put his foot on the ball & open up space & time by doing so.

That alone makes him ideal for the number 10 role. Against Newcastle when he came on we regained composure almost instantly. Having any player who can help you control a games tempo from that position is invaluable.

If we were to get a DM as effective as the likes of yaya at City we could play Coutinho & Alberto in the hole & centre when they're more experienced. That'd be mouth watering, although I've stated my doubts about the lack of physical presence in that area with Coutinho in the number 10 role.

It's always been a sign of a quality player when they are comfortable on the ball and make time for themselves. Alonso had it. Players like Molby and Scholes had it. Now I'm not saying he's in that class just he's got some potential which should be encouraged and nurtured. I'm not entirely sure he's a hole player but he certainly does possess some quality regardless of what this Dreambeliever character says.

Don't forget, his fellow Irishman Rosco wrote Alberto off straight away. He's just keeping up appearances.

Alberto deserves a go, I don't see what Joe Allen brings there at all, he doesn't bag many goals and while his short, quick passing is good, he's not going to thread balls through in the way Coutinho and Alberto seem capable of. Allen deserves another chance playing a deeper role though, I just don't see who's going to make way, we're not going to drop Gerrard and Lucas is the only DM we have.
