We look like we're running out of ideas a bit.


I'm shocked to say that I'm looking forward to the introduction of a player who is significantly better than whoever he replaces.
 
Maybe the cat is our January signing and that was his unveiling ?

Bit shit he wasn't wearing the shirt.
 
I see every betting advert on so far that has shown "live odds" are all about Tottenham scoring/winning. None on Liverpool.
 
I think the cat was hiding in Assou-Ekotto's hair.

We've played well and looked dangerous without actually being dangerous.

I reckon Kenny might be a bit reluctant to take him off given how quiet Bale is.

Well our midfield has been strong. Adam and Gerrard in particular have impressed and Spearing has been decent although there's been a few wayward passes.

Bellamy is struggling to impact from a wider position. He needs to tuck in, get closer to Carroll and feed off him. Kuyt has been brilliant defensively, but a lot of time he's spends winning balls back which he lost. He needs to sharpen up.

We need to move the ball quicker and with more conviction in the final third and then the chances will present themselves. The surface is making it difficult for keepers so we should be rushing in every time we shoot. For that reason a lot I would keep Kuyt on for another fifteen or twenty minutes.
 
Spurs defended well, we played with more energy than guile, but I thought our general approach was good.

To those saying it was shit, I'm not sure what your expectations are, or why they are significantly higher than this team is capable of on all the available evidence we've had.

If we do the same as we did that half but with suarez on the pitch, and a bit better movement and quality, that's probably our best chance of winning without inviting Spurs into a game they really haven't had a lot of.
 
Likewise. I'm quite optimistic about the next 45 minutes. There's some good signs there.
 
So far my two favourite moments of the game were Skrtel kicking Bale and Stevie tossing Parker to the ground like a rag-doll

i'd give anything for someone who can actually beat a man ...yeah , yeah football's about more than that blah blah but nothing stretches a team out of position than if you can beat a man in an advanced area . We get into forward positions out wide but never cross or beat the man ...we always stop , go backwards or inside and slow everything down , it's shite . Fuck at this stage i'd even take Denis Rommedahl !

yah that was a great tackle on bale, and that nasty edge when bale was going "Why did you tackle me so hard?" is great
 
pretty even game. think big andy is looking decent - more willingness to get to the ball first, good feet and movement.

My expectations are that we up the tempo of the game and just create a few chances.

Spurs are there for the taking
 
See, the discussion the commentators are having right now is exactly my issue with players like Andy Carroll in a team like ours.


"He needs to have balls of the right quality, the right delivery, then if he doesn't score them, then you can criticize him." Not only do I not find that true, although I understand the sentiment, look at a player like Suarez, who we all want to come on. We want him to come on because he improves the team. He isn't the best finisher, but he creates and finishes. He makes defenders make difficult decisions. He isn't just the final stage of a system designed to feed him.
 
Bale did dive. I'm glad only he got the yellow, so many refs take the lazy mum approach and just punish both parties.


Ok, now we really are rubbish. Time for a sub.
