Novelty bets

Do bookies really take them? As a joke Christening present, i want to put a bet on a friend's new son winning The Open golf by the time he's 30. You read about this kind of thing in the tabs but do bookies really do it?

If you go a big bookies, I think they do. My mate did it for his son, can't remember the bet. They just ring the head office and quote you some generic odds.

Yeah, they'll probably offer you something daft like 500/1 when in truth the odds should be about 10,000/1 but as a novelty "gift" I wouldn't imagine the price is that important.

Was in the paper the other day, some fat cunt from bolton or somewhere backward, went into his bookies and slapped £100 quid on him losing 100lbs within a year ( he was about 26 stone ).

Did it anyway, they paid out 100-1 on it.
