I think Roy Hodgson has got it exactly right using this competition as a proving ground for ambitious players. I hope we can go a long way in this competition and get a better idea of who is ready to step up.

Doesn't Shelvey have some stupid clause where we have to pay Charlton a further £1m or so when he makes his first start?

Hopefully Spearing can build on his last performance and same goes for Lucas actually.

I'd love for Pacheco to shine too as I'm confident nor Maxi or Jova has cemented their respective places in the first team so far. The road isn't that far should Danni play a blinder tonight.

I don't have a problem with Spearing playing, after his good performance against Steaua. It's disappointing that Shelvey's not in the XI, though, especially as it means we won't have a creative CM.

Yes, that could be the sop to keep him happy about playing in the reserves side! ;D

My thoughts about Lucas are getting confused. He gets into the opposition half about twice per season. When he does he turns into Lionel Messi and scores.

I was also confused after the great performance of the reserves against Steua Bucharest. They seemed to be better than the first team. Should we be playing the same team in Premier League games? ???

I think he meant the tele-people would telecast the game, because of the chance of an upset.......
 
Jova is apperantly starting instead of Ecclestone. Suso and Shelvey should probably be on the bench.
