Non LFC summer transfer thread

What doesn't make sense to me is Chelsea being a club that absolutely need to sell several players. They are desperate to sell, as their squad was already bloated, and now they need a much slimmer squad, in addition to the ffp implications.

This would seem to set up a buyers market, and yet they're getting sales done early, and commanding high prices for them. Surely the negotiation, say between United and Chelsea re: Mount, should be, fuck 50 million, let him go for free next year.

The fees they're actually getting from Saudi for their players are not even that high.

17m for Koulibaly? 8m for Ziyech? 12m for Mendy? Kante's gone for free so won't bother with him.

65m for Havertz I can't and will never get my head around why, same with Mount.

Just remembered they had Felix & Zakaria on their wage books for last season too didn't they? That's another 10m in wages saved.

Can't see PEA staying so that'll be another 10m in wages saved.

Expect to see Chelsea do a bit more on the sales side over the next 10 days - they need to get deals done by 30 June for them to count for FFP in their current financial year. So you may see clubs start to squeeze them on fees over the next week or so - expect that's why United are taking their time on Mount, knowing they've basically got a free run at him as no-one else is interested at the figures being discussed.

Least we can do on this forum is to add "sensitive content" warning for @tombrown in order not to trigger his PTSD. No more spurious, unnecessary abbreviations FFS!
I'd appreciate that. Just to clarify my PTSD is restricted to TLAs in use for footballers. PEA was new low for me, and I am struggling this week as a result 🙁

That’s a mental fee for Mount given Chelsea’s ffp pressures and his clear stance on not renewing.

Man Utd are thick cunts.

Add Arsenal to that list.

Complete wankers, more culpable than the Saudi's for helping out Chelsea...not sure what's worst £65m for Mount or £65m for Havertz.

Good player Rice but vastly overrated, he can go to City if they want to fork out 100m on him no probs.....the dude looked terrible in the conference final, dominated by Amrabat....& if you take his last few England performances you wouldn't notice much difference between him and Hendo.....good shield and protector to have, but he's nowhere near good enough on the ball to command that fee.

If you were watching him for the first time in that final, you'd think decent player. £30m tops. Typical British hype job, nobody outside England pay over 50m for him & that's a fact.

Agreed he's overhyped.
I mean if they can ask for £100 mill for him, Trent is worth at least double that.

If clubs out there are prepared to pay that for him, let them....it'll be another underwhelming buy. Sancho, Maguire, Grealish etc

Players they could've spent a 1/3 of the price on someone else to do the same, if not better job.

Rice has it in his locker to be a mini gundogan, so this could be annoyingly a great move for them

Hahahahaha, no he really can't.

He hasn't got the flair or attacking ability to create and score the goals Gundogan has.

He doesn't have the flair, but Rice does make decent 3rd man runs to the box. At west ham he's more restrained as he's the holding player in a moyes team, but he still manages to get forward enough to cause issues.

Dont get me wrong; hes nowhere near a 100m player.....but money is irrelevant to city, and they must think he's a capable replacement for gundogan

I mean, they spunked 40m on calvin phillips, and all he did was run around

But under Moyes now as he's played him is where his strengths lie, if Pep thinks he can turn him into a Gundo type player then GOOD LUCK! but I very much doubt he will.....as much as I can't stand the bald headed twat, he doesn't seem that stupid.

They've also signed Kovacic don't forget, he seems far more the type of player to come in for Gundogan.

Rice may be signed to feature in a CB/DM hybrid role at the expense of Stones/Ake...would be my guess.

Is it where his strengths lie? or is moyes just playing him there because it's easier to find other players than a controlling, ball winning CM.
regardless, who fucking knows. He could be brought in to rotate with Rodri for all i know.

The kova signing makes sense as yeah, he can do that role, but i don't know if he'd be as effective as rice.

I think Enzo Le Fee was wanted by Bournemouth (when they signed Ouattara) but he rejected them.

£15m for Le Fee?? Wasn't he another 1 linked to us a few months back?

& what's the odds Spurs outspend us this summer?
