Sadly true. Struggling a little financially myself and thinking of going out there to see if I can quadruple my salary.
Can't fault anyone for taking up that option. I know someone who did. Good life within parameters (across the border for alcoholic weekends). He's set for life and so are his children / grandchildren.

Kovacic to City now done. 30m

Ziyech and Koulibaly both step closer to joining Kante in Saudi.

Havertz potentially off to Arsenal for .....65M!?!?!?!?!? What are they smoking over there at the emirates.

Having a proper clear out these plastics.

TBf they needed to just to keep in line with FFP. Shame it's all fucking shady init

Kovacic is a good signing for City, he'll fit in well.

It all feels pretty incestuous though... signings between the top sides used to be a bit more like "over my dead body".

Depends how you look at it....a straight replacement for Gundogan? Probably not the best option.

We sold Sterling to them, Torres to Chelsea, they sold us Sturridge.....unless you wanna go back further.
You remember the whole saga with RVP, Sanchez, Ashley Cole, Sol Campbell.
Matic & Mata.

good player, but a bit odd as he would be best in odegaard's role as attacking mid
or as a false nine

Havertz doesn't improve Arsenal's XI, squad wise sure decent option off the bench but I'm not too sure what he excels at.

£65???? Really?

£90m for a player worth about 50-60m who's in his last year of his contract?? Really?

Very bizarre to me.

Also how do little old Arsenal who have no European cups to their name and haven't played CL for about 10 years able to spend 150m like that on 2 players?

I know I shouldn't let it bother me, but it does....& all it makes me wanna do it kick FSG up the arse.

I think Havertz has 2yrs left on his contract. £65m is not bad.

There's got to be a better player in Havertz than we've seen so far. I'm not sure I'd be laying down £65m for him, but I would wager that Arsenal will suit his game far better, both in terms of play-style and the general environment.

Rice will be a decent, if expensive purchase. If Partley does end up leaving then I don't see Rice as being an upgrade. If Partley stays, and doesn't get thrown in the slammer, then that's a very solid platform at the heart of the team.

& then spend another 80-90m on Timber and Lavia?

It's where they're getting all this money is what I wanna know.

Win fuck all except few FA cups, haven't competed in CL for about 5 years....don't sell any players.....I very much doubt they're only spending what they earn.

They're being smart and investing hugely to capitalise on a position of strength, arguably to offset against a few years of CL qualification.

The polar opposite to what we did
