Logged on to post in the match thread and say it's fucking buzzing like mad here.

Is this it then?

Well, I'm watching the Brazil game, and earlier watched the dutch.

No one looks that special. The dutch game was two teams set out to play exactly the same way, one with slightly better players.

This Brazil team is fucking dull by their standards, and will probably win the cup, because there are some incredibly physical players in there and a fair bit of skill. It's fairly ugly though.

This current Brazil side are the team England should aspire to be - organized, disciplined, physical, hard-working and extremely effective on the counter-attack.

They've been pretty much in total control so far in this tournament and have rarely looked as though they've had to come out of second gear.

As the awful commentators said "1 loss in 2 years. Any questions?".

Fantastic spirit from Chile, they're saying, fucking it, we may lose 6-1, but we want a consolation.

There are a number of teams that have shown to be much better at the basics than we are: ball control, movement off the ball, and crucially fitness and allround athleticism.

Both Chile and obviously Brazil look much more accomplished (without being flamboyant) than we are.

Who cares about England any more. Forget it. As with every other world cup, they're out now, with all the other mediocre and poor teams, now we watch better teams play better games.

I'm certainly not going to miss watching England play. I've watched plenty of fundamentally flawed dull football this year, that's not why I love the world cup.

Nice turn for swazo, works a nice shot... really hoping Chile can get one, the country deserves that and much more, as does this team.

its just like keni said, brazil look like they've been in second gear all competition. I pity the team that plays brazil when they ramp it up to 5th gear (if they have more gears).

Obviously English people care about how England play and look at the vastly superior fitness and technique of other national teams and realise what we must aspire to.

Money or facilities aren't the answer as we have those in abundance and we have employed the supposed best Manager so we are interested in what others do. First we must look at how they train and organise and try to emulate that.

Both Chile and Brazil look like they know what they are doing, England didn't - why?

I care about England, but I'm not going to watch better teams play and think what if, I'm just going to enjoy the rest of the cup.

One thing England don't have to worry about is vastly superior fitness, not in a general sense, perhaps in terms of the preparation for the world cup, and what they are like at the end of the season with an older team.

Chile don't know what they are doing in terms of progressing beyond a decent team, they have a way of playing that will tend to get them exposed, and now has. Brazil are the best in the world. Why doesn't England seem like a team at all? Why aren't they comfortable in a tournament, comfortable on the ball, tactically flexible? Aren't there a billion other threads discussing the many reasons for that.

Fair play to Chile. They worked their socks off today, but were just outclassed in the end. Watching them and Mexico yesterday work so hard is lesson for every English player, who just gave up yesterday when they went 3-1 down.

Also, anyone catch the new Robinho - Nike advert?

Clever from Nike to play it at half time (after the Ronaldinho-addy debacle).

Over in the US we have Roberto Martinez as a post match pundit, and I must say I'm actually quite impressed with him, good english, good analysis, seems thoughtful and likable.

Anyway. Brazil vs Netherlands.... fuck yea.

No there isn't there's one and that's got down to the level of posting amusing pics. I'm watching the WC and comparing others to England it's the way I've chosen to watch it, it makes it more interesting for me.
