Okay, so he didn't end up winning the game for us, but it's another goal to his name and a very good second half performance when we needed one. Show some love...

Today was his best performance in a Liverpool shirt and he deserves a lot of credit for it.

Emphatic finish. Like I said N'gog will improve.

If Torres has scored a goal like that, everyone would be raving about it.

Shows the inconsistencies you'd expect of a player his age but he had a pretty good performance overall.

I can't say I will change my mind after one good 30 mins (2nd half) as the first he was AWOL again, however he did really well in the 2nd. We still need better.

He's bloody inconsistent but he has an awful lot going for him.

did a resonable job of holding up the ball. get down the gym n'gog and you'll get even better at holding up the ball.

i like him a lot - as mentioned before he reminds of of trezeguet, languid style but bullet like strikes. I have a lot of faith in him, but for someone so young and relatively inexperienced he is not at his best when up front alone. he has a great future.

I've always thought he had some ability. He shouldn't have had to play so many games as a first choice, but maybe that'll begin to stand him in good stead this season.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: he has the potential to be a very good #2 or #3.

Too many top posters rip on him because they expect every 21 year old we have to be Michael Owen or Robbie Fowler. Sorry, won't happen. He works his socks off for the team, chips in with goals and can only get better.

He's never going to be 'world class' but he's going to be a very good contributor to our team.

He's been steadily improving, and as I say every time in these Ngog threads, he's got good raw materials for the premiership; tall, fast, big frame and getting stronger by the day. He shouldn't be playing as much as he is, but he's got fantastic belief and application (the anti-Babel) and he's showing something. It'd be crazy to let him go, and it'd be equally crazy to rely on him in his current function.

He always does something great followed by something bad (eg, he'll bring the ball down superbly then pass it straight to a defender). When he can get a bit more consistent he could be useful. I still wouldn't trust him as #2 though.

Ultimately, he's still not good enough to deputize for Torres on a regular basis, but there has been a marked improvement, so fair play to him. He held the ball up well today, and used it well for the most part. Great finish as well, despite Almunia's dreadful starting position.

I think N'gog would be doing a LOT better were we playing with two upfront, I dont think he suits leading the line.

Good performance today though & he's looking a lot more assured in front of goal.

He has done okay when he's had to lead the line at times - today being a good example where he made the most out of the scraps he was given. He is just inconsistent, but I think he'll improve the more games he gets.

We should give him a new contract.

He was terrible in the first half (as, admittedly, were most of the team), drifting wide all the time when he should have been in the centre, and totally unable to make the ball stick.

In the second half (I assume after some words of wisdom from the manager) he was much better. And the goal was fucking ace, no matter how bad Almunia was.

He's still capable of those WTF, Momo-like moments (that 'shot' that went 40ft up in the air) but he's definitely growing on me. I trust Hodgson to help him improve a lot this season.

A bit like how Benayoun was a shit, good player, Eggnog is a good, shit player

Brilliant goal, still nowhere near good enough, but we have no other options

We have Kuyt, Jovanovic and the God that is Torres. Eggnog can be our fourth choice. I've no problem with that.

Farky is bang on- he has the attributes to be a very good player, but we can't rely on him at this stage in his development. I've always liked him and think he's got to be a steal at what we paid for him.

With Joe out will he get a spot with nando against city
[/quote]

No he won't. Maxi, Aquilani or Pacheco will get the JC spot.

I'd consider playing N'Gog in that position though, once Torres is fully fit. I think it could suit him better than playing right up the front.
