NFL Regular Season Thread 2010

Our OC deserves to be getting some heat. He has one of the best WR's in the league, throws it to him once in the first quarter, then nothing until the 4th quarter when they get desperate. It's happened in all 3 games. Is he magically covered in the 2nd and 3rd quarters but open in the 1st and 4th?

Oh, and their playcalling is shit. 20 seconds left in the first half yesterday, but let the clock run down so they can go for a field goal.

Twats.

RIP George ...

ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP)—George Blanda, the seemingly ageless Hall of Fame quarterback and kicker whose 26-year career was best remembered for a remarkable run of late-game theatrics with the Oakland Raiders, has died. He was 83.

The Raiders confirmed the death Monday and issued a statement saying “we are deeply saddened by the passing of the great George Blanda. George was a brave Raider and a close personal friend of Raiders owner Al Davis.â€

Blanda retired a month shy of his 49th birthday before the 1976 season, playing longer than anyone else in pro football history. He spent 10 seasons with the Chicago Bears, part of one with the Baltimore Colts, seven with the Houston Oilers and his final nine with the Raiders.
Other Popular Stories on Yahoo!

He scored 2,002 points in his career, a pro football record at the time of his retirement, kicking 335 field goals and 943 extra points, running for nine touchdowns and throwing for 236 more.

I swear Cutler was trying to get picked tonight.

Well, the day ended in a Y, so...

I really have no idea what is going on, and sooner or later someone is going to tear dirty great strips out of us. But for now we appear to be bumbling through.

The Bears could easily be 0-3, but hey, credit where it's due, they're winning.

This could be one of those 13-3 teams that no one can explain, or one of those 'we started 5-0 and finished the season 7-9' teams.

Ulracher is the key to the team. Keep him healthy, and the defense should give them a chance in many games.

Urlacher has always been the key to our team. I'm still concerned we can't run the ball. Less than a hundred yards last night (although we limited the Pack to even less than us). We're going to have to find a way to move the ball low. And the end of our schedule is beastly, so your 7-9 scenario wouldn't be a shocker. We'll probably lose in New York next week, but there are a few games after that we could win.

Excellent! That means you'll win and the Gmen will be 1-3 under serious 'New York' pressure.

Though you're winning, and that's all that matters, the fact that a perfectly good TD was ruled out of your first game, and both of your subsequent opponents shot themselves repeatedly in the foot, means that you're the least convincing 3-0 team I've seen in years. And that includes this season's Chiefs! 🙂

GB would have (should have) KILLED you lot last night, but for all those penalties - 18, wasn't it? - and really stupid decisions by both players and coaches... Who carries the ball to his inside, when Brian Urlacher is bearing down on him? And who told McCarthy to challange a clearly correct fumble call?

The mistakes made, week in and week out, by (allegedly) intelligent players and coaches blows my mind.

But, like I said, you DID win all three games, so fair play...

CINCINNATI -- Charity-minded callers are getting intercepted by a sex phone line because of a misprint on Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco's namesake cereal boxes.

The phone number is supposed to connect callers to Feed the Children, which benefits from sales of "Ochocinco's". But because the box has the wrong toll-free prefix, they get a seductive-sounding woman who makes risque suggestions and then asks for a credit card number.

Cincinnati-based Kroger Co. said Thursday it was pulling all Ochocinco cereal boxes from its grocery shelves because of the error. Some local stores had them on special display after the launch about a month ago.

Tara Sands of Reading, Ohio, told WCPO-TV and the Cincinnati Enquirer that her family called the number on the box hoping to learn more about the charity.

"We don't need anything to give our Bengals a bad name, especially Chad," Sand told WCPO. "He's obviously trying to do something great by doing this [for] 'Feed The Children.' "

Ochocinco told WCPO that the number was clearly a mistake and he's sure that the maker will fix the problem.

A woman who answered the phone at Pittsburgh-based PBL Sports, which specializes in such limited-edition products featuring star athletes and their favorite charities, told the Enquirer that the company is looking into the situation.

Great college football game was on this evening, well not so great for me, but an entertaining one nonetheless.

The most annoying thing in the world right now is this Manning brothers 'song' ESPN are running all the time. That's my brother right there. Like I didn't already want to set both of them on fire.

Someone should tell Johnson to hold on a little tighter.

And to NOT throw 4 interceptions.

Why aren't you in our prediction thread..? You'd win it by a street!

Was going to call you right at the end, but decided against it...

When that kid got around the corner and right in on the kicker, I thought that you'd blocked it, but alas, no. Also, I thought that your defense should have tried harder to hold the RB up until the clock expired on the 2nd last play... Two more seconds.

Because I'd call the Bears to lose each week and the fuckers would go unbeaten to spite me.

I have never seen a player play so inconsistently in the same game.

One drive he is on fire, the next a pile of shit.

Tomorrow should be fun, some great games.

The ending to that game and to LSU-Tenn were both crazy. Housemate and I tuned into the last few minutes of each and immediately were flabergasted. The end of LSU-Tenn especially was completely WTF?!?!?!

Times like this really makes me appreciate the NFL.

Nothing like it for helping me forget this afternoon's debacle.

The LSU game was crazy, the last few years they have a few games with a chance to win in the last few minutes, and they mismanage the clock, and completely lose their minds.

Two drives from INSIDE their 30 yard line and we put up ZERO points. Reed and Batch are playing like twats.

Takeaway notes from this afternoon: Flacco is clutch, Kolb is NOT the answer in Philly, NFC East wideopen for real, Jags have a kicker, every weekend I end up watching at least one of the Manning kids and hoping they lose, happy the Vikes had an off week so my sports weekend wouldn't be a completely depressing tragedy (although I've accepted their sucking as quickly as Liverpool's), if 49ers go 0-5 is Singletary gone?, couch + football = heaven (please tell me God watches Monday night!).

Will the Niners still win the NFC West?

Will the Niners still qualify for the playoffs?

Will the Niners finish 8-8?

Will Singletary still be here when the Niners win their first game?

Will we even win one game?

Liverpool and Niners.

What a shit weekend.
