NFL - Offseason, Draft & 2017/18 Season

Smart decision. The last three times he's been tackles, he's been hurt so badly he had to come out of the game and missed basically the past two years as a result. I'm glad he chose this option, for his own sake. Just look at Jim McMahon today...

You're being really harsh - one of the top QBs of his era. Carried the Cowboys year after the year.
He never had a great defense on this club ... which was what really hurt him, and is Jerry's big failure.
Heck, even our NE fan @Whaddapie will agree.
One of the top QB's of his era?! Fucking hell man!
In an Era with Brady, Farve, Manning, Rodgers, Brees christ even Roethlisberger and Eli
Romo was and is shit.

He was still good. Just behind a lot of great ones.

I presume he's going to commentate now ?

Just checked his stats, 4th highest rated QB of all time ... Think about that - higher than Eli, higher than Big Ben etc
Not saying he's necessarily better, but not 'crap' or 'overrated'

Is that the ratings you are going on?
Lol.

Yup.
(what should be discussed is fucking Rodgers - insane)
Passer rating stats don't count for much when Matt Schaub is ahead of Marino,Kelly,Elway,Bradshaw,Staubach,Aikman,Fauts,Starr etc etc.
It makes the whole thing look like one complete joke actually.

It just means the game has changed and NFL defenses have yet to really catch up to the changes (or aren't allowed, like days gone by).
That being said, even if you put that aside, passing yards, passing TDs (holds records for Cowboys) or 4th quarter rating (which is off the charts).
Great QB? No, greatness is Brady, Montana etc ... 2nd tier? Maybe, debatable. But he's definitely after those groups -

Oh well ... he's made the right choice imo. Life is more important than football.

I don't buy that QB Rating is the be-all-and-end-all measure of a QB's ability or performance.
That said, Romo was a very good QB, not top bracket but very good all the same.

All he does is pass.

Put your fingers up. Greatness is measured in rings.

To an extent, yes, but it's not the be all & end all... David Batty won a league title. Stevie G did not.

Eli is not a better QB than Dan Marino. Nor Aaron Rogers.

Stats can tell us anything we want to read...

So you put Aikman behind Montana, Brady & Bradshaw as the greatest ever?
Is this only for QBs?

Yes. I think most people do mate. Troy is without question an all-time great, but those three might be the number 2, 1 and 3 QBs to ever play (in that order 😉).

Troy was an all-time great yes - but is he one of the best QBs ever? or was he just fantastic for the team set up by Jimmy?
I'm not taking any thing away from him, but to me, he's not near that 'top' tier of Brady & Montana.

1st is Garrett
2 safeties in the top 7
Fournette will go 4 or 8 imo.
Cook will drop to the 20s.
OJ Howard will go 8-12
Cowboys will trade down unless someone drops big time and get an extra 3rd or 2nd in the draft

The draft is strong regarding defensive players, so hopefully we'll be able to draft well and improve the defense

I'm hoping for Peppers but he'll probably be picked up earlier than 28th or whatever our first pick is..

Peppers needs to go to a team that has the ability to be flexible in their defense system ... Rod Marinelli will never be that kind of coordinator ... He may be there at 28 but I just don't think he's the player we need (unless we have something set up for his unique talents)

Lynch to Pats? Unlikely, but it's a rumour doing the rounds that if Raiders talks fall through Pats are next in line.

Damn, if that happen's, surely it'd be set up for a new era of the Greatest Show On Turf?

Alas, it's surely unlikely given his love for the Raiders.

One of the greats ...

[article]Pittsburgh Steelers chairman Dan Rooney has died, the team confirmed Thursday. He was 84.

Under Rooney's direction, the Steelers won four championships in six years -- Super Bowls IX, X, XIII and XIV. He also played a large role in the 1974 draft class, considered the greatest class in NFL history, in which the Steelers picked four of five future Hall of Famers -- Lynn Swann, Jack Lambert, John Stallworth and Mike Webster.[/article]

Aaaah shit. Just seen this.
Wonderful owner.
His faith in managers is legendary.
We won titles because of him.
