No way. Great football brain but his man-management skills are even worse than Rafa's. A manager who divides opinion as sharply within his own set-up as Van Gaal does is the last thing we need now. It'd be like Souness all over again.

He's not that bad.
He will do well here if he can be provided enough money to make a few key signings.
And which staff are divided on Van Gaal at Bayern? The ones that had a problem with him are gone AFAIK.
Souness has no clue about anything.
WHo at our club do you think will have a problem with a disciplined coach?
Gerrard perhaps.

He's only been at Bayern for a single season so far, and his previous record for causing dissension in the ranks IS that bad. He's a very good manager of a particular kind, whom I'd certainly pick for the kind of job GH did when he cleared out the Spice Boys and brought some discipline back into the club, but in our current state he'd be a disaster.

Liverpool are planning a shock move for Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp, Sky Sports sources understand.

The Anfield outfit are searching for a new man at the helm after Rafa Benitez's six-year reign was brought to an end by mutual consent on Thursday.

And Spurs boss Redknapp has emerged as a leading contender for the Reds hierarchy as they aim to bring stability back to Merseyside.

Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish and managing director Christian Purslow have been charged with the task of identifying and selecting a replacement.

Dalglish knows Redknapp well having brought his son Jamie to Anfield in January 1991 when he was at the helm of the five-time European champions and the two families have been close ever since.

Reputation
Redknapp's reputation as a transfer market wheeler-dealer has made him an attractive option for Liverpool, who are heavily in debt and could have only £5million to invest in new players if they do not trim their squad this summer.

The former Bournemouth, West Ham, Southampton and Portsmouth manager has transformed the fortunes of the White Hart Lane club since replacing Juande Ramos in October 2008.

Redknapp his since guided the club into the top four of the Premier League - ironically at the expense of Liverpool - and they have the prospect of UEFA Champions League football to look forward to next season.

Spurs would be loath to lose the services of Redknapp, who has been granted an impressive transfer budget during his time in North London, and are sure to fight hard to keep the 63-year-old.

Redknapp has only one year remaining on his current contract at White Hart Lane and talks over a new deal are yet to take place.

I suspect Arry and/or his agent is looking for a new bumber contract with Spurs

Harry's a great manager and I'd welcome him with open arms but I can't see it. Unless you're a dyed in the wool LFC fan, Spurs are a much better proposition that us at the mo.

I would love Redknapp here, certainly out of all the links it's the one that excites me the most.
A character, a sense of humour, very slightly dodgy, a great manager, the media love him, passionate about the game.
He is always very respectful about Liverpool, in fact there was a piece on the TV a few months ago, or was it in the paper different managers giving their dream stadium to play at, when everyone else were talking OT, Camp Nou (how come it got reversed) etc , Harry picked Anfield 😉
I think Liverpool and all it's history would be a great draw for any English manager of that generation, yes things on the face of it don't look great, I am still convinced something is happening in the background, but Harry must have had wet dreams over the years about managing Liverpool, and this is probably his last chance.
I think he would be prepared to move away from his Sandbanks home for a few years , anyway time will tell

I don't think it's an issue, or shouldn't be at least, as long as it is severed, along with a bit of acknowledgment as to why..............................
Given the history of The Lying Rag and Liverpool football club, in the aftermath of the Hillsborough disaster it would be wholly inappropriate for me to continue with any sort of relationship with that particular paper..............
I didn't know he had to be honest, but I never read it anyway.

That would be certainly the way forward.

I'm surprised you've missed him, Vlad. He, Venables and Ian Wright are in much, if not all, of the current campaign.

*shakes self*

What am I on about ? This will not happen.

Stop luring me in with your seductive 'arry chat !

'Arry would certainly show more emotion than Rafa what with all that random involuntary winking, gurning and chin jutting. Quite entertaining in it own right.

There's no way he'd leave tottenham and his first ever crack at the champions league.
If both teams were in there he could be turned but I doubt given the differences in outlooks for both clubs it's much of a goer.

I'd love it if Harry would come. Plus I'm sure that many of our 'currently undecided' stars would like the thought od playing under Harry and decide to stay on...even if just for a season to see how things pan out.
It's well documented that he's a wheeler and dealer in the transfer market, although that would be hard even for Harry with 5 million to work with, but if theres any truth about Masch & Kuyt to Inter for 37million, then he's one of the few managers out there that would be able to stretch that some way.
The fact that he's English is an added bonus too.

Maybe he could persuade Lennon and Crouch to come as well.

(wishful thinking, I know, but a name that I'm actually excited about)

Anybody would think our clubs dead and buried.

Only a few hours ago we were listing the many good players we have.

I'm sure that many would be interested in working with Reina, Mascherano, Gerrard, Torres etc

I still think we have better players than Spurs.

[/quote]Why is everything I say being twisted into a pop at Rafa/the club/players.
They are in the champions league and cash rich. Manchester city are cash rich and improving year in year out. Where does that leave a club with a 5m budget.
He's 63 or summat like that, I just can't see him throwing away a crack at the big time for a few years of restructure.

Regardless of the champions league issue I reckon he'd jump at the chance to work with likes of Torres and Gerrard, as well as Mascher, Carragher, Reina, Johnson etc. Plus I like the idea of Defoe and Torres up front! I think he'd be great for the club and would be able to instill a bt passion back into our players, something which was sorely lacking last season.
