Hodgson is on holiday in Wales, eh? Must have a caravan beside you Vlad.

why the fuck would you holiday in wales, unless you were on the dole?

Hodgson as coach, Dalglish as Director of Football. Sounds good to me.

And Spirit of Shankly can fuck off too.
how come you've got a boner for hodgson, btw?

i just can't see what he'll bring other than a steady hand, which is no guarantee at all. he certainly won't attract players to the club, or enthuse our current ones.

Attract players to the club? We can't afford to sign anyone who'd need 'attracting' to Liverpool.

I've already said what I think he'll bring to the club.

As for convincing Gerrard, Mascher and Torres to stay... he and Kenny together will bring a sense of sanity and hope, I would think; whether that'll be enough, I don't know. But I am sure that getting Sancho Flores wouldn't, in itself, convince them to stay.

The main reason I want Hodgson is that I don't like any of the alternatives.

Kenny's Liverpool short list

Roy Hodgson and Louis van Gaal will be the first two managers to be approached by Liverpool king-maker Kenny Dalglish.

A meeting at Anfield yesterday between the Reds’ legend and managing director Christian Purslow has outlined a shortlist of potential candidates to replace Rafa Benitez.

And the overwhelming front-runners on that list are Fulham boss Hodgson and Champions League finalist van Gaal, who enjoyed a successful campaign with Bayern Munich this season.

Dalglish will make discreet approaches to both men and then put together a package to tempt one of them to Anfield.

The Liverpool board feel there is no need to rush, given that the World Cup will dominate the next month and few players will be available until after the tournament.

But Dalglish and Purslow have decided that Hodgson and van Gaal have the perfect qualities to take the club forward after a poor season.

Fulham would mount a fight to stop Hodgson moving to Anfield. He was rewarded with a new rolling contract earlier this season which would cost Liverpool about £2.5million in compensation.

Hodgson’s wife Sheila is from Liverpool and the couple enjoyed living in the north-west while he was boss of Blackburn.

Van Gaal vs Hodgson? Van Gaal please, at least he can bring attractive football and tough discipline. Not sure we can tempt him though.

I detest Van Gaal. but of all the candidiates mentioned, I would grudgingly go for him. Although I respect what Uncle Woy has done at Fulham, that article states that he enjoyed his time in teh North West at Blackburn.

I don't think many Blackburm fans did......

I'm sure we can. Otherwise why fire Rafa?

Former England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson: It's every coach's dream to manage Liverpool
By David Middleton
Goal.com

Sven-Goran Eriksson has made himself a contender for the vacant managerial position at Liverpool by declaring he's always been a lifelong fan of the Reds.

The former England boss, who is leading the Ivory Coast at this summer's World Cup, admitted it would be a dream come true to take-over the reigns at Anfield just 24 hours after Rafael Benitez departed.

“I have been a Liverpool fan all of my life. I never mentioned it when I was in charge of England because I didn't think it was fair,†he revealed to The S**.

“My father was also a Liverpool supporter and every Saturday we would watch an English match on television. It was the highlight of the week.

"Liverpool matches were televised quite regularly and we would cheer them on. They have always been my team and nothing has changed.â€

Sven's affection for the Merseyside giants will automatically put the Swede on top of a long-list of managerial contenders to revive the club's fortunes.

Last term the Reds had early exits from the Champions League and domestic cups, and finished down in seventh in the Premier League.

Having experience of managing in the Premier League with Manchester City, and been in charge of the Mexico national team, Sven will be viewed as a first-rate candidate to fill Benitez's shoes.

"I was shocked when I discovered Rafael Benitez had left,†he added.

"Would I want to be the manager of Liverpool? It is every manager's dream to manage Liverpool."

"When I was starting out in coaching I was invited to Liverpool to see how they did things. Joe Fagan was the manager at the time.

"I remember him showing me around Anfield and taking me into their legendary boot room.

"It was such a privilege and an honour for me to be invited in there. I will never forget that moment.

"Liverpool will always hold a special place in my heart."

It's possible, of course.

But the amount of talk we see from Hicks really does indicate he regards us as his cash cow.

The asset-stripping you're talking about would only at best mitigate his losses.

Lucas had better flee whilst he still can.

Veteran Brazilian striker Giovanni has labelled former coach Louis Van Gaal as the "Hitler of the Brazilian players" in an astonishing tirade against the Dutchman.

Giovanni, now 38 and set for retirement from the game, had a three year spell at Barcelona in the late nineties. The arrival of van Gaal saw the Brazil international relegated to a bit-part player at Camp Nou later prompting him to sign for Olympiacos.

"Van Gaal is the Hitler of the Brazilian players; he is arrogant, proud and has a problem," Marca quote Giovanni as saying.

"My life with him was horrible, the Brazilians did not want him, he put me down and also fought with Rivaldo and Sonny Anderson. He always gave us the excuse that we were not training well.

"I know that he must have some trauma, he has no idea of football, does not know anything, in the time I was with him he always did the same training, his type is sick, he's crazy."

He also revealed one incident in particular that annoyed him when van Gaal instructed him to fly to Tenerife for a league game before opting not to pick him in the squad.

"He p***ed me off a lot. Look, I'm a quiet type, if I'm not slapped in the face. I took a three or four hour flight from Barcelona, for him to say he didn't need me. So I could have stayed at home with my family. Why did he bring me? I told him not to do that to me and never let it happen again."

Giovanni also noted that he would have liked the recent UEFA Champions League final defeat for van Gaal's Bayern Munich to have been far more severe.

"If it were up to me, I would have liked it if Inter won 15-0 with five goals from Lucio," he added.

This will sound very worrying to our Brazilian starlet.

Joachim Low interests me. By all accounts, he was the tactical brain behind Germany at the last World Cup.
And if I'm not mistaken his contract talks with the German FA stopped quite a while ago and his contract is up at the end of the World Cup.

To free the logjam over his situation and thereby make the club saleable again. BTW appointing the King as caretaker pending such a sale would also avoid the need to pay off yet another manager if new owners want to bring somebody else in.

My point is the idea that Rivaldo was, perhaps, being a tit can not come as a shock to anyone.

Add to that, anyone will else whose *name* ends in "o" from that country.
