New Manager?

I really can't see us (a) going after a Lippi or a Van Gaal, and (b) tempting them to come to us. We're a fucking basket case of a club.

It'll be someone like Hodgson on a short-term contract.

Oh, and by the way... If people accuse Rafa of deploying negative tactics, just wait til you see Trapattoni's teams. He'd have Torres at right-back.

I don't think this is such a big problem. In the world of football, reputation always counts for so much more than reality.

Indeed so look at Inter Milan getting excited over Rafa 😉

I rest my case!

Every time a manager gets sacked for cocking up big time, there is a queue of clubs wanting to sign him up on the assumption that it will all be different when he is managing their team.

Yes, I can imagine Marcello Lippi thinking along those lines...

'Thank God I've got these great fans to compensate for the two wankstain owners that I have to report to, a club saddled with debt, no money to buy new players, the Europa League, the fact that I've got to spend the first two months trying to convince Gerrard, Torres, and Mascherano to stay, and no new staidum anywhere on the horizon'.

Appealing.

Point is, spide is that theres lots of clubs better than us that any already great manager could walk into.

I think we need to make a gamble, on someone young, heavily experienced in the game and not paul ince.

Yeah, Ryan gave a pretty good description of Liverpool, Spidey.

To think managers would not consider the above factors is ludicrous.

I wasn't being serious, ryan description is exactly how mangers will view the position at liverpool, objectively.

Unfortunately so

And yet so many will throw their hats in the ring!

I look forward to the new appointment. It will simply mean that we get behind whomever is appointed and would represent forward momentum.

We're in a mess, true...but I can't believe that there wouldnt be plenty of good managers interested in managing LFC.

I can. Also, ´good´ isn´t really good enough is it? Even his worst detractors would struggle to argue that Benitez was no a good manager overall. The trouble is we need need a manger of outstanding motivational capacity to get lazy arse Gerrard playing again, amazing negotiating skills to stop the top players leaving and out of this world tactics to drag the club into a top 4 finish with very little expenditure.

And we´ll have to take a risk to find him. Cos it won´t be a big name. We are looking a Roy Hodgson................

I don't think Liverpool's finances are going to put off candidates who want Liverpool FC Manager on their CV. The one's we want are the one's who don't need a gap in their CV filling.

The best solution, it seems to me; is to ask Kenny Dalglish to fill the breach until the ownership issue is resolved. I think he may be able to retain our best players and will restore some pride in the club and knows how to deal with the media.

Given our circumstances I'd take Hodgson as a very serious candidate short term, horses for courses and all that. If things are as bad as reported and aren't going to improve in the foreseeable future, then he's exactly the type of guy we need. When short of money, it's not a big name to attract World Class players that we need, it's someone who will go back to basics and get us back on track with much of what's available.

What about Deschamps? He rock anyone's world?

He's a very good manager, and a possibility. Actually I'm surprised his name hasn't come up more often. It also helps that he speaks English and has played the game here.

I love what he did with l'OM; big club, big expectations, no league titles in an eternity.

He's obviously seriously good at what he does.

I'm of the opinion we should go for a young, hungry manager who plays attractive football and has a solid long term plan. someone who will grow as we grow. I am coming around to guillem balague's suggestion - Quique Sanchez Flores, or rijkaard.
sure new owners may come in and want their own man but that may be a year away.

Roberto Martinez?

Seriously, why in the world should someone like van Gaal or Lippi come to Liverpool?

It's going to be someone like Hodgson or Jewell.

Yeah. It has to be said that the French league was very open this year, with all the top teams dropping points regularly. But Deschamps did succeed in giving Marseille a consistency and self-belief that they always lacked before. The fact that he was a great footballer would probably help with Torres, Gerrard, Mascher et al too.

I wouldn't be against giving Quique the job, especially if he had a number two like Pako.
