And his defending?
Abysmal.

Nah, not really. He showed some good awareness and looked composed but truth to be said Hungary had about only one real opportunity (their goal) and Agger wasn't to blame. The game had the look of a friendly at times to be honest.

Against Sweden he looked very assured defensively limiting Zlatan to only a couple of half chances.

The main positive thing from last night in my opinion was that he looked lively and fit throughout the 90 minutes.
Sounds good, at least this international break has done some good to one of players.

He should slot back in alongside Carragher. One more costly mistake from Jamie and we should, at last, turn to a Skrtel, Agger partnership.

Vermaelen's better in the air but Agger's more of a threat from 20-30 yards, plus he's a better defender, too.

Vermaelen's made some errors which have been largely overlooked

Is he the leader in the partnership?

The reason I ask is, if say Carra for some reason got dropped, I really don't see Skrtel leading the backline at all.

"Leading" maybe a bad word to describe it but you know what I mean..

Who do you think is the better attacking centre back; Vermaelen or Dagger?
Vermalen from what little I've seen will score you more goals from set-pieces that's for sure. I haven't seen him participate as much in Arsenal's build-up as Agger like to do though.

One is a bigger threat from set-pieces whereas the other will give you more phossibilites in attack.

His partner for the World Cup is going to be 20-year-old Kjaer so that's more or less a given. He does tend to shout out instructions to most of his teammates when playing for Denmark as well so he's not affraid of going forward either.

That said I just can't see Carra beeing dropped. Hopefully he'll find his best form soon, as we really need him to. Skrtl and Agger are still unproven as a partnership and they'll probably need time to gel.

Are we still sniffing around Kjaer? Buy him and we'd sorted for the next few years (if Agger stays fit).

Just imagine the understanding Agger and Kjaer would benefit from.

I don't know mate but I'd be surprised if we were as his prize-tag has gone through the roof of late.

He won't come any cheaper than £10M at this stage and with both Inter and Juve said to make an offer in that region come January we are probably not going to be in the mix.

I knew very little of him when we were first linked but I must admit he has thoroughly impressed during his time in Italy and within his first year at International-level too.

He is unbelievable strong in the air and never seems to a loose any one-on-one's on the ground either. He could turn into a great defender indeed although he's evidenlty still got a lot to learn.

Kyrgiakos's injury would not certainly be welcomed by Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez or by the Greek national side

That's a funny way of putting it. Reads a bit like "Kyrgiakos's injury would not certainly be welcomed by Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez (but it might be!)"

Its a shame for the fella and certainly a waste of money for us but was hardly as if he was a major part of our team

I'm happy for KHL, he has a nice running buddy in the poster 'dosenna' for his Agger love in.

Agger's a clever lad and he's always struck me as having potential to be the captain of the backline, the way he sort of stands back and assesses what's going on and signals to players where they need to be. He is, by all accounts, incredibly quiet though, so who knows?

It's been that long since he last played for us that I almost can't really recall whether you're right mate, but whenever he plays for Denmark he's very communicative.

*A part of the explenation could be that when he's playing alongside Carra that area seems pretty much covered.

Not sure about that. Depends on whether the young players are ready or not IMO, and I'd have thought we have to trust Da Management's view on that question.
