This is a riddle and no mistake.

I shall need all of my cunning and years of skill to figure out this little connundrum.

Doctor Mac. Your skillset is required sir.

FFS. Have we decided on a sandwich that ends all sandwiches? Anyone? My life depends on it today.

And what's the latest craic with Fekir and Shaqiri?

I have had this. It is incredible. Steak sandwich. Make it. Eat it.

Ingredients
Serves: 4

  • 4 hard rolls, split
  • 125ml mayonnaise
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Parmesan cheese
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 900g sirloin steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 large onion, sliced and quartered
  • 1 pinch coarse sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 8 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian herb seasoning

Method
Prep:15min › Cook:15min › Ready in:30min

  1. Preheat the oven to 260 C / Gas 10. Toast the rolls on a baking tray in the oven while it is preheating. Mix together the mayonnaise, garlic and Parmesan cheese in a small bowl. Refrigerate until ready to use. Remove the rolls from the oven when toasted as desired.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Carefully place the sliced steak and onions in the pan and season with sea salt and Worcestershire sauce. Cook and stir until the steak is browned and the onion is tender.
  3. Generously spread the prepared garlic-Parmesan mayonnaise on both halves of the toasted rolls. Divide the steak and onion mixture evenly among the bottom halves of the rolls, piling them high. Top each with 1 slice mozzarella cheese and sprinkle with Italian herb seasoning. Place the tops on the sandwiches.
  4. Bake the sandwiches on a baking tray in the preheated oven until the cheese is melted, about 5 minutes.

The talk of him using us to get a new contract is bullshit.

We conducted all the LFC TV interviews too, which is a strange thing to do if we were that concerned with his knee. I think everything points to us trying to lowball at the last minute.

Again, us doing all the interviews then trying to lowball them makes little sense to me though.

It's all a little odd.

Melissa Reddy just posted this sarky reply to someone m, she's pretty tight with the club, & this suggests it was the knee issue that's caused it.

Yes, sat crying my eyes out at how stupid I was to 'expect' that after agreement of personal terms, a transfer fee, a medical, media duties, the deal would be completed. Won't forgive myself for not seeing into the future to know they'd be concerns over an underlying knee issue

Not sure about that, no offence to you mate.

Yeah, I saw that. I do think there might be a bit of truth in the lowball rumour but that it is connected to the knee. I wonder whether when we became aware of the seriousness of the knee damage if we tried to make a greater percentage of the fees included as part of add-ons, with appearances probably the key factor in triggering the payments. It would make sense from our point of view, but I can see why Lyon would tell us to fuck ourselves with a late attempt at renegotiation.

Yep. It also means Lyon are unlikely to get any offers that are better than ours unless he plays & plays damn well in the wc.

From their pov it's kind of a win win though, either they get to keep their captain for another season, he plays in the wc & does well so they get a bidding war & more cash, or we come back in & they accept our terms or negotiate a bit.

It's not hard to imagine a scenario where it not being done now negatively impacts them, but it would be pretty bloody unlikely.

I suspect the club are thinking they may be able to get more detailed & accurate information about how his knee holds him in training whilst he's away at the wc too, which is another variable which may mean we've held off.

^^ very naive. Chelsea matched our offer but fekir preferred us. They will be plenty of suitors for his signature even if he has a half decent World Cup.

Not really. We were pretty confident the deal was going through, the problem seems to stem from the medical. It makes no sense to do all of the groundwork and have all the media shit in place, to then lowball. Especially when it was reported they wanted to hold out until after the WC, but we were determined to pay the money to get it wrapped up before then.

The idea that it points to us "lowballing them" at the last minute is pretty ludicrous and makes absolutely no sense at all, given all the evidence.

I think you're looking for something that isn't there, like half of Twitter seem to be doing too. There's always a conspiracy, when the reality is probably something MUCH simpler.

You not hearing anything from your mate at the Echo Halmy?

He's not working today, but he was the one who told me about the second opinion on the knee, then said the club told them that the deal was done. He still thinks we'll sign him, but that's his personal opinion.

Well he passed the medical, did all the media stuff, fee and personal terms agreed... then we went back and tried to restructure the payments or lower the fee based on concerns over his knee. If we were still willing to sign him, then the knee can't be that much of a concern.

But concerning enough to restructure the payments or whatever?

Well if you'd heard a player was fucked, would you still want to pay 50 mil for him? I think we used a bit of an issue with his knee to try and lowball the fee.

Even though we didnt?

Right, we agreed a deal with Lyon. We did the medical, got a second opinion, and were still happy enough to tell the Echo and everyone else that the deal was done, and do all the LFC TV stuff. We then went back to Lyon and said we still want the player, but he has an issue with his knee, so we want to either knock money off or restructure it. Surely if his knee is that much of a concern, we should've walked away completely?

Which is the right thing to do. And if he plays in the world cup and shows signs of knee issues ... after a few tackles then we would have been proven correct.

If the second opinion on his knee was all good by the professionals then we're fucking idiots for trying to haggle on the transfer terms. Surely if the second opinion is the lads knee is fine why Fuck about? Utd didn't seem to have the issue with Van Nistelrooy when the horse did his knee in!

Personally if we're concerned about his knee this much forget him and move on. Buy who his replacement is meant to be at Lyon, that young kid they just gave a 5yr contract to last week

What makes no sense is if we tried to renegotiate, Lyon say no, it’s then up to us to pull out or go forward with it.

Instead, it sounds like we tried to renegotiate and Lyon go no and cut all ties.

Just sounds stupid for someone that wanted to sign for us and did everything, including interviews.

This whole thing makes no sense.
