That means nothing

That means nothing

I have to agree - comparing he French League to ours does not mean much. Fekir was a risk anyway with a history of buying players who only have experience in that league not been very successful and especially at Liverpool. So this could be a mixed blessing we just don't know. I think we were all excited at the prospect of him producing his current form for us in our league, but at £50+M - we should only aim for guaranteed success not prospects with a dodgy fucking knee.

Agree with @gkmacca - we should focus our attention on getting a goalkeeper and cover for the CB position, and also maybe considering a CF - although Shaquiri seems like its going to happen so we could have cover for Salah. We need some cover for Mane, if as it sounds Fekir is not joining us. I think Klopp will not go for a CF if we find Fekir alternative. We still lack necessary creativity though.

It just goes to show it's much better not to hear any gossip at all but rather just see the player in the shirt shaking the managers hand.

It's a strange one, If it is true that we are worried about his knee then I'm fine if we pulled out the deal. Spending 50M on a player if we are honest most of us have only ever seen this last week on YouTube...

As for the club being "dickheads" .. shake your head... to actually moan at the clubs transfer activity is overly negative pish.

Keita was wanted badly and we signed him, Fabinho also a big signing straight out the blue...

For whatever reason this one never happened but... zero need for whinging.

Phil Mcnulty from the BBC believes its Lyon titting about rather than ourselves
It’s the president annual moment of fame. He does. crave attention, doesn’t he?

I feel he’ll be a Liverpool player come the start of the season

Yes. It's like being offered an expensive reconditioned TV.

And I wonder if Lyon always wanted to wait until after the WC in the hope they could start an auction.

As has been said if Fekir is contantly managing pain then we probably aren’t the club for him. Our play places heavy demands on the bodies of our players. We already have Hendo who is managing some sort of issue and hardily ever played 2 games in one week last season. If we buy Fekir we can expect him to be regularly preserved for the CL match or missing CL in anticipation of a big league fixture. There will be compromises. He’s a great player though and this is shit.

One of the hacks on the radio this morning (didnt catch where he was from) suggesting that Fekir himself pulled the plug and didnt want to leave but used the whole thing to get a fat new contract from Lyon.

Dunno if its true. But thats two journos ive heard say it had nowt to do with us renegotiating or a medical. Lyon have it sounds like dicked us about.

Ideally, I guess they would've. But I'm not convinced he'll get much game time at all.
I think that’s the problem for Lyons. That auction idea only works if he has a stormer which is unlikely if he’s not a guaranteed starter. And I doubt the other suitors are prepared to match Liverpool’s offer— Bayern was reportedly hoping for “its good relationship” with Lyon to get a deal done. It won’t pay that fee now that it’s been established I don’t think it will pay that, not when it has first choice pickings in Germany. Mourinho, as he did with Salah, might just to that to prevent Liverpool getting a vital cog in its machine. But I doubt it.

There’s such a fog surrounding this transfer— I’d not be surprised that the deal is already wrapped up but we’re letting Aulas have his annual moment in the limelight.

Given that he did media duties in a Liverpool shirt, that's obviously a crock of shit.

The most plausible story is that there is a medical issue we're concerned about.

This is a riddle and no mistake.

Ive just checked, as has been mentioned the statement on their website is gone and no mention of him staying.

Weird as fuck

I don’t know what sort auction Lyon think they’re going to get on a player who has just failed a medical.

No-one is going to pay a premium for damaged goods.

If the player’s gone to the length of being photographed in a Liverpool - he’s mentally gone from Lyon - and wouldn’t imagine he’ll be too impressed with Liverpool dicking abiut.
