Nabil Fecked.. Deal off.. Lyon won't take payment in Crisp Sandwiches

Right.
Isn’t that precisely what the medical is for?
It’s conducted so that the buying team can assess the risk and make any adjustments based on the result.
I don’t see what all the fuss is about. Move on.

Dirty - totally agree with you, anything that we may have agreed with Lyon should have and I hope would have been 'subject' to a medical. They can sulk all they like and walk away from the deal , but if we found such an issue then regardless of world cup he has there is no way any other team will pay that money.

The talk of him using us to get a new contract is bullshit.

We conducted all the LFC TV interviews too, which is a strange thing to do if we were that concerned with his knee. I think everything points to us trying to lowball at the last minute.

I'm guessing the interviews were done in good faith straight after the medical and before they got the results.

Surely any other club would be wary of Fekir now. If they sign him and he struggles physically then everyone would say they signed someone that we had already found the problem with. It’s hard to see how we haven’t driven his value down regardless of where he goes.

Exactly, I think this is why Aulas is mad at us - by revealing the seriousness of the issue with his knee, we have potentially knocked off a few million off his value. Not sure what he was expecting though - until the transfer goes through Fekir’s knee is his problem, not ours.

And Lyon were happy to sell at a premium, knowing full well the extent of his knee problem, say they can hardly cry foul.

In this case though - seems that even though we thought the deal was almost in the bag, we’ve tried to play around with the back end.

Lyon definitely not into it, so left us without a happy ending.

Yep. It also means Lyon are unlikely to get any offers that are better than ours unless he plays & plays damn well in the wc.

From their pov it's kind of a win win though, either they get to keep their captain for another season, he plays in the wc & does well so they get a bidding war & more cash, or we come back in & they accept our terms or negotiate a bit.

It's not hard to imagine a scenario where it not being done now negatively impacts them, but it would be pretty bloody unlikely.

I suspect the club are thinking they may be able to get more detailed & accurate information about how his knee holds him in training whilst he's away at the wc too, which is another variable which may mean we've held off.

Unless say he does an Owen at his last World Cup and snaps his knee

I wouldn't invest that much money on a player with a dodgy knee. Now that we've exposed the extent of his knee injury I doubt that any top team will be willing to pay a premium for Fekir.

Friek not even a squeak officially from LFC on what's going on Lyonaise seems to be so saucy.

We'll still sign him
Begining to think this too. We are way too silent on the matter. Or is it something to do with bad practice to officially comment on a signing withdrawal if the underlying reason is medical ? I remember we took a lot of shit when the club spoke out on why we did not sign that other player under Rodgers for medical reasons and QPR I think were the selling club and they were really pissed off.

Medical details are likely to be confidential.

This does all seem very weird.

I’d half suspect that there isn’t a major problem with his knee at all.

Aulas didn’t want to sell before the World Cup, pulled the pin at the last minute - the original Lyon statement didn’t specify a reason - no doubt Lyon would have briefed in France that LFC tried to change the deal.

Seems like the sort of dick move he’d do.

We haven’t officially commented - wouldn’t be surprised if the “failed medical” was our way of playing Aulas at his own game.

No official response on the medical issue from either ourselves, Lyon or the player and his agent, which is very strange.

You’d expect at least the player’s agent to be denying there’s anything wrong with his clients knee.

You’d expect Lyon to be saying there’s nothing wrong with his knee.

From what I can make out - if there is something wrong with his knee it’s more around, if he gets another injury to it he could be well fucked.

I’d be surprised if we weren’t aware of any training issues before making a move for the player - and doubly surprised we’d go as far as interviewing him for LFC TV and allegedly giving him the No 10 shirt, if we had any concerns about how the medical would play out.

If it’s simply a question of re-structuring the deal to speed “potential” risk - then we’ll be back in after the World Cup.

For the people thinking this will happen after the World Cup, isn’t that likely to be a disaster for us financially? If he has a shit World Cup, we’ll still get charged the same fee we agreed last week as it’s the French Levy. If he has an amazing World Cup, the asking price will double. Sounds like suicide.
I think is off else it’d would’ve been done whilst the price was reasonable.
